Section One: Essay Question The essay is worth 8 marks Your answer should be approximately 3-4 pages double spaced. Throughout the winter term we considered different strategies for building workers’ power today. Of the strategies we considered, which do you find most promising? Explain the strategies and why you think they could be effective? Section Two: Short Answer Questions These are short essays. Each Answer is worth 4 marks Please answer 3 of the 4 questions below Each answer should be about 1-2 pages double spaced. 1. Choose one of the core features of neoliberalism. Explain how the feature of neoliberalism you chose impacts work and working conditions in Canada. 2. In the current context of labour relations in Canada, what is the role of the government? Do state policies and actions support or hinder workers’ justice? Take a position and use the course material to support your position.3. Drawing from the film “The Hand that Feeds,” the guest lecture by Chris Ramsaroop and our various readings on migrant workers, explain some of the specific challenges migrant workers face when trying to resist exploitation and oppression in the workplace. 4. How have the processes of globalization intensified the structural inequality between workers and employers? Be specific in the processes you identify.
