mandatory for students to get vaccinated
Essay #3 asks you to take a position on mandatory vaccines for children. We know that certain vaccines have saved countless lives–there is no denying that fact. However, we cannot deny either that there is a strong opposing side to mandatory vaccines; what exactly are the dangers of vaccines? Should the government have that much control over what we put into our or our children’s bodies? Please do research, read through the information I’ve provided, and write a strong argumentative essay with a clear position on the topic. As with each topic for this class, there is no right or wrong position. Make sure that you address and refute (but do not insult or alienate) the opposing side. I suggest beginning and ending your essay with pathos (emotional appeal); readers are likely to be persuaded by emotional appeal as long as it is supported with ethos and logos. You may also choose to argue whether or not the COVID-19 vaccine should be mandatory once it is available. The essay must include the following: outline at least 1200 words at least three academic sources cited both in your essay and on an MLA Works Cited page (blogs may be included, but they will not be counted as academic sources) clear thesis statement that expresses a position on the topic clear topic sentences with strong supporting examples logos, pathos, and ethos written in third person point-of-view (no “I” or “you”) few, if any, mechanical errors
