The purpose of this assignment is to allow students to examine their cultural/ethnic heritage and apply concepts from the course in their analysis. This essay may require you to interview or consult family members to get the answers. The Essay should be between 3 pages, typed and double-spaced in APA style format (references not needed, but paper should include headings and proper grammar). The paper is due on Friday October 30, 5:pm Please follow the guidelines listed below: Identify your family origins as far back as you can trace specific ancestors . If your ancestors were not native to this country, why and how did they come to this country? Speculate on the conditions they left behind and on their possible motives for leaving these conditions. Did they come by choice? What did they hope to find?  When your ancestors arrived here, their ethnic background undoubtedly influenced how they were perceived and treated by others. Describe both a disadvantage and an advantage your ancestors may have experienced because of their ethnicity. Examples might include matters of religion, racial characteristics, socio-economic background, language, family patterns, or political involvement.  Were there any examples/experiences in your family history with relative deprivation or absolute deprivation? Considering the analysis, how will this self-knowledge be important in the work you choose to do in your professional career?
