American Sentinel N522PE Module 3: Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular System & Respiratory Assessment

American Sentinel N522PE Module 3: Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular System & Respiratory Assessment American Sentinel N522PE Module 3: Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular System & Respiratory Assessment Discussion 3 This week you have studied cardiovascular, peripheral vascular, and respiratory advanced physical assessment. What additional resources for these advanced health assessment skills have you found beneficial in developing your knowledge and psychomotor skills this week? American Sentinel N522PE Module 3: Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular System & Respiratory Assessment Post a concept to the discussion board that you have had difficulty with and note where you are with resolution of these difficulties. Please describe the issue completely, citing your sources so that your classmates can reference the information and provide additional “clinical pearls”. In other words, please include primary sources and/or reliable electronic sources to support your arguments. Remember to respond to at least two of your peers. Please refer to the Course Syllabus for Discussion Participation Guidelines & Grading Criteria. Permalink: https://nursingpaperessays.com/ american-sentine…atory-assessment / Discussion Sample Solution and Responses I really struggled to get through Tina’s HEENT visit, so for this week’s respiratory and cardiac I tried to change how I organized the work. This week I started with the concept labs, which I found helpful. Then I moved to the reading and I’m currently working on the assessments. I found Jessica Nishikawa’s YouTube assessment video to again be helpful as an example of how the assessment should flow. With shadow health I have a hard time getting the answers I am looking for with my questions, as well as knowing how much to educate and empathize. In person it is much easier to read the patient and educate and empathize when you can see they need it or there is an opportune moment to educate. I’m trying to get better at reminding myself to use those buttons and switch from the question to those more often. I’ve used the “made incredibly easy” series of books previously in nursing school and they also are proving to be helpful now as well. As noted in the forward of the book, “every topic – from examining the retina to percussing liver borders to auscultating for a pericardial friction rub – is described step by precise step.” Reference Knudtson, M. D. (2008). Assessment Made Incredibly Easy. Springhouse Cooperation. Philadelphia, PA. Nishikawa, J. (2012). Procedures of the Cardio Vascular / Peripheral Vascular exam. YouTube. I have watched Jessica Nishikawa’s YouTube assessment video for the HEENT assessment we completed but have not watched any other ones yet. The ones I have found very helpful for me are the RegisteredNurseRN on Youtube. I completed the respiratory one and am watching the Cardiac one at this time, she actually has two for this assessment. I’m continuing to use “thePoint” for the skill assessments along with both of our text but the area I keep struggling with is the questions. I think I have asked everything and then I have not gone in-depth enough. I do appear to be getting better at educating and empathizing with Tina, but this is not something I’m as concerned with as I do interact differently when I am with a real person. I did not think to use the “made incredibly easy” books, so thank you for mentioning that. One of our fellow students talked about a Pocket PEx app on google that he said is very helpful so I am going to look at that also. References: Bickley, L. S., Szilagyi, P. G., Hoffman, R. One of the challenging aspects for me has been the headings given to us. In all the provider documentation I have read the format is different. In my mind at least, I have been practicing an advanced physical for quite some time. I have that down fairly well in my head. Then when I look at our sections I feel lost. I have found numerous flash cards and pocket guides for physical exams. I have done numerous literature searches and was floored when I read one article that mentioned the newer clinicians feel that the physical exam is outdated (Kelly, Freeman & Dornan, 2019). Something else mentioned in this article is that newer clinicians are not practicing physical exams, which makes them less proficient, thereby leading to higher rates of misdiagnosis and medical costs.
