In this regard, the National Cancer Institute conducted research for the federal government to reveal public health issues in the United States. The study is titled: Public Health Research and Cancer and the issues that are examined are the impacts of cancer on public health and the role of the federal government on cancer treatment. The study is concerned about cancer issues such as high costs of treatment, low economic growth due to a lack of productivity, the increasing death rates due to cancer, and the living standards of cancer survivors. In this regard, the study warns the federal government that the impacts of cancer on public health might increase rapidly since the U.S population ages at a high rate, exposing many people to the risks of cancer (Greenwald et al, 2016). The study also identifies unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking that increase cancer risks.
