It encompasses a wide range of physical objects, such as computers interconnected and automatically sharing data over the Internet [1]. Medical and healthcare systems are among the markets that the IoT plays a significant part in. IoT enhances monitoring to different essential equipment in the health care facilities. Some of the equipment is vital;, hence, any defect will reduce efficiency, therefore fatal [2]. .The future of IoT is ‘patient oriented equipment’ =that will help patients access data and personalized care, resulting in fewer visits to hospitals. [4]. IoT will improve end to end connectivity and automate patients care workflow. [4]._ – Counterargument – Refutation Based on the information above, this research will illustrate the application of IoT in healthcare, the correlation between IoT and patient benefits as well as future advancements in patient care.] There is no denying that IoT is the new trend in the field of technology and will grow exponential in the future. IoT functions and applications are not a new topic. The first IoT application was at Carnegie Mellon University during the 1980s [5]. The application was created to report inventory levels directly from a Coke vending machine. Subsequently, IoT witnessed an enormous spark of interest during the 1999 Internet boom. Accordingly, almost a decade later, there were about one billion devices connected together across the globe [6]. During 2018, around 47 million individuals used devices to rely on IoT in the United States. Simultaneously, the trend of 5G connectivity has risen and started to become accessible; thus, allowing the use of IoT in numerous sectors to an increase in demand [7]. Medical and health care are among the most attractive applications that use the IoT. Bakersfield Internet of Things & Healthcare Sectors Essay Thus, the program has significant potential in medical applications, including monitoring healthcare remotely, chronic illnesses, and elderly care., [8]. , According to [9], around 41 billion devices will be connected to IoT by 2025. Consequently, in the current decade there will be more implementation of IoT and an even higher demand in healthcare sector. There are many benefits to utilizing IoT in healthcare. First, it reduces healthcare costs since family and health care providers can monitor patients’ health at home through smart devices; reducing hospital admissions and costly visits. Secondly, the IoT facilitates improved treatment outcomes due to the use of comprehensive and real-time data to enable the doctor to make informed decisions. Thirdly, it also leads to improved disease management as a doctor can monitor the spread of communicable diseases. Furthermore, it reduces errors as doctors use accurate data collection; hence, minimizing any medical errors. IoT also improves the patients’ experience by reducing the effort and time one needs to receive proper medical treatment. Consequently, the future developments of IoT will further expand health care. For instance, through remote monitoring, the use of customized devices and software will instantly read medical information from the patients’ card. helping doctors analyze the health of a patient. The use of various gadgets can monitor, store and update patients’ daily activities. . IoT has a huge advantage in the healthcare industry since it captures data continuously and has online access to data. For [10]. Hence, available data will allow individuals to identify issues and treat them in a timely manner. [This research will acknowledge the utilization of IoT in healthcare, the association between IoT and patient benefits, and upcoming developments in patient care.] The outcomes of the research are vital; this is because of the increased importance of IoT a person’s life. Specifically, IoT is a vital tool in the health care sector as it has improved health care treatment, reduced costs and assisted in monitoring the patents’ progress. This research will answer the following question: Bakersfield Internet of Things & Healthcare Sectors Essay 1. How has the Internet of Things (IoT) revolutionized the healthcare sector? 2. Discussion This research will explain the impact of the Internet of Things on the healthcare sector and how it is one of the revolutions in the development of healthcare sector applications, by analyzing data gathered from our questionnaire. As mentioned in [1], Through the Internet of Things, Data is collected and shared by internet-connected devices around the world; it makes the world around us smarter and more responsive, as the digital and physical worlds merge. This research is done because we are interested in processing data through the Internet of things, as it leads to correct, important results and decisions to the health sector. RQ1: How has internet of things (IoT) revolutionized healthcare sector? As mentioned before in the introduction, IoT has developed rapidly and has transformed the healthcare sector into high-quality and time-saving care. According to Figure 1, we asked the respondents if they use a device supported by IoT, and the majority of respondents, 87.90%, were using a device supported by loT and only 4.90% were not using any IoT device [Fig. 1]. These results confirm to us the widespread availability of IoT devices. Bakersfield Internet of Things & Healthcare Sectors Essay As mentioned in [2], every second, 127 other devices are increasingly connected to the Internet, IoT devices appear everywhere. Figure 2 demonstrates people’s knowledge of IoT devices, 40.80% of the respondents were having medium knowledge about the IoT, and 11.20% had very knowledgeable on loT [Fig. 2]. Based on first and second questions results together, it seems that the users of IoT devices do not know that they are using a developed device! It is a great thing to provide advanced devices that provide valuable services without feeling any difference in cost or difficulty in using them, as mentioned in [3] ” IoT based healthcare services is to provide a rich user experience at low cost and improve the quality of life”. As mentioned above, the percentage IoT devices usage is considered a high percentage compared with the extent of people’s knowledge of IoT devices, so with the increase in the spread of advanced applications based on the IoT, especially in the field of health care, institutions and health centers must hold introductory lectures to increase People’s knowledge about the value of their advanced devices to encourage them to use it continuously. RQ2: What are the significance benefits from utilizing IoT in healthcare? Internet of Things usage in health care sector offers many benefits to patients like monitoring, managing medication time, and it can sometimes save their life. 52.40% of respondent strongly agree that patients would benefit from wearing IoT devices such as (monitoring devices) according to Figure 4, while only small minority disagree [Fig. 4]. The overall response of that question was quite fair, it is certain that patients will benefit from IoT, as indicated in [4], it is possible for the use of the Internet of Things to develop some platforms that provide smart and innovative services to patients and people who need medical care. Figure 6 shows that a high percentage of 66.20% participants strongly agreed that IoT will help in collecting patient’s data [Fig. 6]. Yes, IoT devices are used to monitor patient’s data such as heart monitors. As mentioned in [5], the use of the Internet of things enables medical devices to collect, analyze and send data over the web. As mentioned above, according to respondents, the benefits offered by using IoT vary. Basically, IoT allows the healthcare sector to collect data and share it in real time with everyone who needs to take this information. Bakersfield Internet of Things & Healthcare Sectors Essay RQ3: How do future developments in IoT application expand medical care? Connecting medical devices to networks and patients has become a big business because of the benefits that IoT provides to doctors and patients, as indicated in Figure 7, 54.30% of participants were strongly agreed that IoT will change the future of the healthcare better [Fig. 7]. as mentioned in [6], it is expected that the use of IoT will develop in the coming years in order to improve the productivity of workers in the health sector and maintain the health of patients. Figure 9 shows that the majority of respondents, 90.30% said yes, that the Internet of Things improves disease diagnosis in the future, a high percentage indicating the respondents ’high belief in the importance of IOT in healthcare service [Fig. 9]. As mentioned in [7], ” With the development of medical IoT, there will be great opportunities for telemedicine, remote monitoring over the patient’s condition, and much more.” IoT will help in disease diagnosis. Reading the future of the Internet of Things is possible by observing the tremendous development that increases daily for this technology, as it is expected that the use of IoT will develop in the coming years due to its multiple benefits. In conclusion, the purpose of this research is to increase individuals’ knowledge about the importance of IoT in order to create a new and advanced future of healthcare sector. the results of the questionnaire that we did reveals the knowledge of participant of the importance and benefits of devices supported by the Internet of things, in the[Fig. 1], when people were asked about whether they use IoT devices, the result was 87.90%, this indicates the extent of the prevalence of these devices. In the [Fig. 2], 40.80% of people have medium knowledge about the IoT. This percentage is quite good. Therefore, we recommend that, through our research, introductory lectures should be held in order to encourage the use of these devices more. As mentioned in [2], that IoT devices are being manufactured in an increasing number everywhere. Bakersfield Internet of Things & Healthcare Sectors Essay Therefore knowledge of IoT must be increased. Numerous studies demonstrate the effectiveness of monitoring patients and saving their lives with IoT devices. But the knowledge of the people must be increased and enriched about IoT. Because if individuals lack this knowledge, they will not know where to go when they need the benefits of these devices, and they may think that there is no solution to their problem, but there is a solution through IoT. The questionnaire responses fulfilled the purpose of this research to increase awareness of IoT, but there were some limitations. The survey sample was mainly from girls, and there were not many age groups. The results could have been improved if the questionnaire was distributed to other countries as it was distributed only in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. References: [1] Cisco.com. [Online].
