Beauty Standards

RESEARCH QUESTIONS  1. I would like to see if there is a relationship between beauty standards and eating disorders. Are people who follow beauty standards attentively being affected through eating habits? 2. I would like to see if there is a relationship between beauty standards and mental health. Is people’s mental health being impacted by how actively they are following society’s beauty standards? 3. I would like to see if there is a relationship between beauty standards and colorism. Are the beauty standards that we see implemented impacted by colorism?  RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS  1. People who focus on society’s beauty standards more will be more prone to having an eating disorders because they are trying to achieve that “perfect figure.”  2. People who focus on society’s beauty standards are more prone to being impacted mentally in a negative way. More than likely the beauty standards of society are telling you what you’re doing wrong.  3. People who focus on society’s beauty standards are affected by colorism in the media. The subtle unconscious choices that whisper to you “white is right” and “dark is bad.”
