I want you to explain and explore your definitions of and relationship to literature. What you believe we should read and why? Why is it even necessary to have a class like this? Why should we care? Your first paper accomplishes two things: for you, it is a chance to articulate what you believe, to come to your own opinion, and for me, it is a chance to get to know you as a writer, to examine your tone, your organizational decisions, your rhetorical style. So… We’ve read what Griffith and Nguyen have to say; now write a solid three page (750 word) essay sharing your ideas, telling us (your peers and me) what you think and why, using examples from your own experience to support your claims as well as a quote from the book and/or the essay.
