[Solved] Regional Administrator
In June of 2016, the EPA settled a court case with Yuengling to the tune of $3M for violations to under the Clean Water Act. “Yuengling is responsible for serious violations of its Clean Water Act pretreatment discharge limits, posing a potential risk to the Schuylkill River which provides drinking water to 1.5 million people,” EPA Regional Administrator Shawn Garvin said in a news release. “This history of violations and failure to fully respond to orders from the Greater Pottsville Area Sewer Authority and EPA to correct the problems resulted in this enforcement action.” What is especially important to note is that “The EPA said Yuengling violated Clean Water Act requirements at least 141 times between 2008 and 2015.” In other words, violations continued for 9 years before the company was penalized. This is one example of an ongoing debate regarding the effectiveness of our environmental regulations if the process cannot move quicker to stop the continued damage to the environment. An article outlining the case specifics as well as a supporting article titled “Clean water advocate says cases, like Yuengling’s, take too long” . After reading the specifics on this case, research similar cases and/or argumentative opinion papers regarding the issue of slow turnaround on prosecution under Clean Water Act violations. Post your thoughts and arguments regarding this issue; for example, what are the leading causes for the delay? Do you believe the delay hinders the effectiveness of the regulations? What steps could be done to speed up the process?

[Solved] Twentieth Century Architecture
Research Paper: Architectural Historiography in the 20?th ?Centuryhistoriography is the writing of history, as well as the process by which historians analyze and interpret historical evidence. Therefore, the writing of history is, by nature, interpretive, and as such it is highly influenced by the author-historians agenda, bias, cultural context, research method, knowledge (or ignorance) of source material, selective editing, etc. To this end, for this research project you will choose a subject relevant to twentieth century architecture, and you will compare/contrast various historians interpretations of this subject.First, you will choose one architect, event, movement, period or theory relevant to twentieth century architecture. Some possible topics might include: the Deutscher Werkbund, the Case Study House Program, Japanese Metabolism, the Bauhaus under Hannes Meyer, the New York Five, the 1932 exhibit at the MoMA entitled The International Style, Mies van der Rohes work at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Rem Koolhaas in the 1970s, etc. If you choose to focus on the work of one architect, you should narrow your research down to an important period in that architects life (e.g. Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1930s), or a specific theory developed by that architect (e.g. Louis Sullivans brand of Rationalism). Your task is NOT to report on the building, architect or event, but rather to compare/contrast various historiographic interpretations of it.You will consult a minimum of five historiographic accounts of the topic (see the list of examples of historiographic accounts below), from different author-historians who express different viewpoints. As you read and reflect on these accounts, you should ask yourself ?What evidence does each historian cite, and what evidence does each historian leave out? Why? How does this decision influence this historians narrative of the topic? ?How does each author-historian use and interpret the evidence? ?What distinct conclusions has each historian drawn about this subject? ?How do these conclusions differ? How are they similar? ?How does each historiographic account reveal the historians own bias and/or agenda? ? ?How have perceptions of this subject been affected by the various historiographic accounts of it? ? ?How does the author-historian contextualize the topic in the broader narrative of the history of twentieth century architecture? ?In what ways does the author-historians account of this subject reveal her/his broader approach to the history of architecture? ?How have historians affected our understanding of this topic?Topic ProposalAfter choosing a topic, list and analyze each account of the topic. List the similarities and differences that you discover between accounts (i.e. as listed above). Be specific. Then, conduct research on the author of each account to determine how they chose to include some information while excluding other information. Your proposal should also consider/discuss each authors bias. I recommend that you organize this information in table format. Finally, write a thesis statement and 1-2 paragraphs that summarize(s) the overall trend, trajectory, etc. of the historiography of the subject. Do the authors fall into various camps? Do you notice an evolution over time in the ways this topic has been presented? Are some authors biases more evident than others?

Refer to The Path to Writing a Professional Document within Blackboard for crucial tips to improve your documents.SITE ANALYSIS/LITERATURE REVIEW/RESEARCH DOCUMENTClosely examine the border area using Google Mas/Earth. Choose a specific city or rural town within 50 miles of the Mexico/US Border. What are their problematic issues? Research the specific sites demographics using the census report (Mexican and US Census reports- links provided in the syllabus). Use other reputable sources, such as local newspapers and regional reports to discover history and problematic issues those communities are dealing with such as high unemployment, hate crimes, pollution, drugs/alcohol, forest fires, lack of water, endangered species, etc… Your research will summarize the historical and modern issues while considering demographics, the local economy, and geographic features. Research the specific sites demographics using the census report (Mexican and US Census reports- links provided in the syllabus). Within the conclusion, demonstrate critical thought by showing that you have examined the area and its problems in detail by discussing possible solutions to the biggest problems. Last, talk about the next steps of the research by stating the specific problem you will concentrate on solving with your final design project. This research activity is designed for the students to take their knowledge from the readings, class and guest lectures, videos and personal interest and apply background research to a meaningful design project which personally interests them. The student will consider present surroundings, natural geographic features, historical events/issues, population trends, social /environmental characteristics, current issues and future projections of the Mexico/US Border Region. This research/site analysis will form the basis of knowledge for the final design project.Include maps of the area and images which relate to the site and research. Use the maps and images within the body of your document to support the written discussion. Include extra and important images within an appendix. For an APA example of a proper literature review, please refer to the instructors thesis on pages 4-16 and the reference page on page 88.
