Write a journal that is reflective of the Renaissance era and the artwork Michelangelo, Leonard Da Vinci, and Raphael. It was very interest in how the Renaissance artist used the images and tools of the Greek and Roman culture to influence their artwork.  Follow the class PROM TO THE LETTER.  Also, follow the outline note for writing the reflective journal.  This journal is reflective. What did you find new in the content this week? What have you learned about the use of art materials, the construction and idealization of the figure, the use of perspective, and of composition in Renaissance art? What did you find most interesting? Provide some examples and reference particular artworks or concepts. In 6-8 paragraphs let us know about your favorite artist and why they are important to you. Give a background of how you came to know the artist and drew you into to them. Make use of surface design and environmental influences. Show that they travelled to Classical Greece and Rome and that they were inspired by them. Pretend you are friends with some of the artists in that period and say how they thought, how they felt about the renaissance period, the materials they used, their influences and how they looked at nature and the human body. PART 1: ANNOTATED Bibliography and Thesis Statement/Due July 10th Conduct preliminary research on the form, content, and context of your artwork. Identify minimum THREE online academic sources from your library website that are relevant to your research. Your sources could be eBooks and journal articles. Read your sources and write about 150 words on each source indicating what it contains and how it is relevant to your research. Also, produce a THESIS STAETEMNT that introduces your research argument. What Is an Annotated Bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. The Process Creating an annotated bibliography calls for the application of a variety of intellectual skills: concise exposition, succinct analysis, and informed library research. First, locate and record citations to books, periodicals, and documents that may contain useful information and ideas on your topic. Briefly examine and review the actual items. Then choose those works that provide a variety of perspectives on your topic. Cite the book, article, or document using the appropriate style. Write a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme and scope of the book or article. Include one or more sentences that (a) evaluate the authority or background of the author, (b) comment on the intended audience, (c) compare or contrast this work with another you have cited, or (d) explain how this work illuminates your bibliography topic. How has the artwork perceived by the public/society? Are there any major criticism on this artwork? You will write your research paper in 1000 words (about 4 pages), Times New Roman, font 12, double-spaced, with normal margins. Indicate the word count on front page. This project is worth 20%. Introduction – Paragraph #1: Introduce artwork by artist, title, and date, with a brief description of the artwork, and end the paragraph with a thesis statement that answers the question: How do the visual aspects of the artwork explore the ideas/concepts/issues that your artist is interested in? Body – Paragraph #2: Describe and analyse your artwork’s visual and conceptual aspects in greater detail. Explain how this artwork was produced or performed in detail (you may include materials, process, actions, story, dimensions, location if relevant, how the viewer interacts with it, etc.) Body Paragraphs #2–4: Describe and analyse your artwork’s visual and conceptual aspects in greater detail. Analyse how each aspect of the artwork’s production, performance, or any other visual aspect relates to the artist’s overall interests or agenda. What cultural, political, social, economic, or artistic issues specifically does the artwork address? Be specific, provide research that defines the issue and the concerns around it. (e.g. national identity, the institution, the environment, human relationships, sexuality, gender) What is the artwork trying to communicate, or what is it trying to explore? What is significant about the materials, location, or process used? Use research to define the visual aspects and strategies (e.g. what is juxtaposition, dematerialization, performance, gender, etc.) and analyse how these specific strategies are used to give the artwork meaning. Describe, define, explain, analyse each aspect, idea, and vocabulary term thoroughly. Conclusion – Paragraph #5: Give a summary of your findings. Never introduce new information in your conclusion. RESPOND TO CHARLIE POST and compare your classmates’ observations with your own–are there any connections between the way you and your classmates interpret the relevance of art? If your interpretation of the relevance of art differs significantly from one of your classmates’ observations, how do you account for this variance? What can you learn from this?  Charlie post During this class I have learned that all art is interpreted by each individual. Meaning that everyone sees something different or sometimes the same. Earlier works were very religious. and slowly progressed into emotion and love like Rococo art. I learned that art is always progressing and deeply reflects the time and place or events that happened during that time.  Society is reflected in the art of that time and vise versa, a society of the time needs shock and awe. Art is very emotional and has been a way to self-expressing for many years. What I have learned in humanities has opened my mind to understanding art. It’s not just a painting to me anymore it is an expression of the artist’s soul. and has allowed me to open my mind to the many works of art and from many time periods, this by far has been my favorite class. I feel like I was blind before this class there is so much to art that I now understand. I am so thankful for this class my mind is finally free. This is my final history paper. please read all the instructions mentioned here before starting the essay  Music as History a. Choose a topic you would like to explore through music (e.g. changing gender roles, the social acceptance of drug use, portrayals of sexuality in American culture, etc.) b. Choose a time period (1950-1995; 1965-1975; etc). c. Choose five songs that best exemplify the change you are examining. d. In a word document, in chronological order, list the name of the song, the year it was written/released, and a paragraph explaining the meaning and importance of the song you chose to the social change you identified. Directions:In this assignment, you will be constructing a historical argument about a topic/theme of your choice and articulating the change/continuity over time and its historical significance. For your evidence, you will be using popular music. This assignment requires that you choose five songs as evidence for your historical argument. After identifying a historical change or continuity, you will write an introductory paragraph that outlines the historical context, change/continuity, significance, and your argument. Then, you will put the five songs you have chosen in chronological order, with a paragraph of textual and contextual analysis for each. For your textual analysis, you may want to quote a line or two from the song as evidence of your interpretation. After you have written a paragraph for each song, you will need to write a concluding paragraph that summarizes your historical continuity or change, thesis, and significance. You will need to choose an appropriate periodization, explaining why the time period you chose is crucial to understanding the continuity/change you are exploring.
