[Solved] Business and Crime
1. respond more than 80 words – Business policy – In addition to the SWOT what other methods are available for analyzing the environments of the firm? Please identify the various environments of the organization. (general, competitive, internal, etc). 2. respond more the 80 words – The company I have chosen is Starbucks. The reason behind choosing this company is that Starbucks makes great Coffee, they treat their employees well, and they understand the needs and wants of their customers. Starbucks took the corner coffee stand idea and skyrocketed the availability to the world. Strengths: Starbucks has one of the strongest brand images in the United States. Everyone recognizes their signature logo, well at least any coffee drinkers. Per the 2019 Interbrand ranking, Starbucks has a brand value of $11.7 Billion. Not only does Starbucks offer incredible coffee, but they also offer great tasting food options, be it snack or meal. Starbucks also treats their employees extremely well and is ranked consistently in Fortune’s top 100 places to work. The amount of Starbucks stores has grown from 1,886 in 1998 to 31,256 in 2019. Weaknesses: Starbucks Coffee is not cheap, in fact, it is very expensive. Since Starbucks does not own the rights to the coffee itself, other stores offer the same types of drinks for far less. Starbucks has also been accused of farming their coffee beans in third world countries, and paying the farmers third-world wages, allegedly. They have also been accused of violating the principles of “Fair Trade Coffee”. Opportunities: Starbucks has stores across the united states and Europe. With the developmental boom in areas such as China, India, Japan, and Africa, Starbucks has a huge opportunity to expand to places outside of the popular continents now. Due to the vast number of flavours and fads, Starbucks has a tremendous opportunity to develop new food and coffee ideas. With the ever-changing diversity of the world, Starbucks can take advantage of being multi-inclusive by offering transgender bathrooms in their stores. Threats: Starbucks tends to make giant profits each year, which leads to other companies stealing ideas. With the stealing of ideas, companies can offer the same types of drinks for far less cost. Fast food companies can offer Starbucks like drinks at their stores that can reach a greater magnitude of people. Also, the idea of independent coffee houses seems to be ever rising. People tend to stay true to their neighbourhood coffee shop and feel like they are doing their part to be anti-establishment…no judging here. 3. criminal Justice: Using the textbook and expanding via the Internet, research either Socrates, Plato, or Aristotle. When did he live? Who was he influenced by? What were his findings and opinions? Do you believe his opinions are well-founded and/or well researched? Do the philosophers beliefs still hold value in our society today? How do the ideas of the philosopher apply to the study of criminal justice? Please add reference 4. criminal justice – “respond with more the 80 words. The Price of Life is exactly what you pay when given a prison sentence. After serving time, only to know that you did not commit the crime that they convicted you of is tough. Unfortunately it happens more times than none. The system would much rather take little evidence and place the guilty verdict on someone who isn’t guilty at all. It saves time, and attempts to provide a sense of justice for the family, however, if the person locked up isn’t who committed the crime, there really isn’t any justice given. On the Child Support situation, I wish they would re-evaluate how to handle that when it comes to inmates. The options as far as income is already limited when serving in jail. A potential raise in the amount that inmates are given could help out with child support. I can’t imagine knowing that my child needs to be supported but can’t do anything regarding that due the nature of my life at the moment. Being release from jail to hear that figure regarding your child support amount is enough on top of knowing the real hard is about to be hard as well.”
