Each content area has vocabulary, processes for engagement, and concepts that are specific to particular sub-areas and that prepare student for future learning. This assignment is for you to think about one aspect of a content area to assess for the student you selected as a focal student or that you have chosen to focus on. JUSTIFY THE IMPORTANCE OF THE NEED OF PROBLEM IN EDUCATION

Allocate at least 2 hours in the field to support this field experience. For this field experience, you will assess the 4th-grade students from your previous week’s mini-lesson, provide them with feedback, and reflect on the summative assessment administration. Part 1: AssessmentIn the previous field experience, you designed and implemented a lesson that provided additional learning support to a selected group of students. In the final part of the assessment process, you will conduct a summative assessment for the same group of students. Your summative assessment should be designed to determine the mastery of identified standards. Prior to completing the assessment, review the pre-assessment to ensure appropriate concepts are measured in the final assessment. Once your summative assessment is complete, ask your mentor teacher to review it for approval. With permission, administer the assessment to the group of students. You may provide multiple assessment methods (oral, written, technology-driven, etc.), and differentiate assessment based on the needs of the students. Part 2: Provide Feedback Individually conference and review each student’s assessment results with him or her. During each conference, ask the following questions to engage the student. How do you feel about the lesson? What was the most difficult? What was easy? During this time, begin with the positive strength of each student. Provide effective, descriptive feedback by identifying instructional goals for the student to continue working on. End on a positive note that shows compassion, justice, and concern. Speak with your mentor teacher and, provided permission, use any remaining time to seek out opportunities to observe and/or assist your mentor teacher or another teacher and work with a small group of students on instruction in the classroom. Your mentor teacher must approve any hours spent observing another classroom environment. Part 3: Reflection Submit a 250-500 word reflection of your experience creating and administering a summative assessment, and providing effective student feedback. Evaluation Title: Environmental Literacy Plan – Phase IIn this first phase of the Environmental Literacy Plan Project, you will be collecting information about your community. The term “community-based environmental protection” clearly implies that it is just that – community-based. It must draw upon the community’s experience and reflect its member’s values and interests. So if you are to develop strategies that address specific environmental concerns, you need to know what those concerns are, why they are important, and who considers them important. Use this phase to identify what information will help you understand your community and its interests. Research the following about your community (A community would be a township, city, town, or village where you live.): Take five (5) pictures of the environment in your community, including parks, ponds, nature reserves, etc. Label these images with a title and location. What is the current population of the community? Locate census data for the population of the community over the last 5 years. Plot it on a graph to show how the population has changed over the last 5 years. Based on this information, can you predict what the population will be 5 years from now? Include the prediction on the graph as well. What is the population per square mile? Other demographic information to locate includes: Does the community attract a seasonal population (e.g. university students, wintering retirees, or summering vacationers)? Why would this be a danger to the environment of the community? What are the basic population statistics (e.g. size, density, spatial distribution, age distribution, ethnicity, typical family size, and structure) in the community? How do the demographics of a community affect the environment? Provide three (3) examples. Your job is to create a Psychoeducational Report to aid in that determination. Your report should include the following categories:Background information, student strengths and parent input. The Case Report is the summative assessment for this course so you will want to incorporate all that you have learned. This assessment is worth 100 points.
