Essay: A critical evaluation of how different learning theories and principles in teaching and learning can influence curriculum design and assessment

University campuses are often seen as prime recruiting grounds by zealots of various descriptions-some political, some religious, some ideological, or other types.  They are trying to win converts to their fervently held beliefs.  Write an email (about 300 words) to an imaginary friend, reporting about one such rhetorically skillful speaker you’ve seen in action recently (this may be either a real-life or an imaginary case).  First describe the speech and its content in detail, then assess it critically in light of what you’ve learned about rational acceptability and warn your friend of the dangers of uncritical acceptance of these speakers’ messages.

Research the implications of equal protection for K-12 students within one of the following groups: Classifications based on English language learners; Classifications through ability grouping/tracking; Classifications in academic programs based on gender; Classifications in sports programs based on gender; and Classifications to assign students to specific schools for racial balance. In a 750-1000-word essay, address the following for the group that you have chosen: Summarize the factual background on how the students are classified. Identify the legal issues presented by these classifications; and Describe what equal protection requires. Include at least five references in your essay. At least three of the five references should cite U.S. Supreme Court cases.

All the components of my topic and what the audience needs to know is when public schools began, and who started them, who they were created for and when black people were allowed to attend and once they attended how they were treated within school systems. This problem has been occurring since public schools first began hiring black teachers and are still going on today. This is happening worldwide but I really want to focus on the issue in America.

What will you do as a teacher to ensure that these important factors are present in your classroom and are reflected in your instructional strategies and classroom-management techniques? Read about the major philosophies of education: Essentialism, Perennialism, Progressivism, and Social Reconstructionism. There are others, but these four represent a broad range of general recognized educational philosophies and should serve as a good starting place by which you will build your own. You can find these in the document titled “Four Philosophies: Overview” or you may do your own research. Explore philosophies that match your beliefs. Write a paper in which you discuss your beliefs in terms of the four philosophies, and explain which of these resonates with you the most and why. Your paper should be well structured and logically organized to demonstrate how your teaching philosophy (i.e., values and beliefs) relates to what you will do in the classroom (e.g., instructional strategies, use of technology, role of collaboration, types of discipline, respectful rapport). This 1-2 page paper should describe your core beliefs about teaching and learning and how these beliefs will be enacted in the classroom. To support your ideas, please provide specific examples and connect these to at least 1-2 specific philosophies. Include an Annotated Bibliography. Remember to cite any sources in APA format that you used to help you develop your ideas or that inspired your teaching philosophy.

This assignment is for a technology grant proposal project. There must be a need for the technology grant you are writing about based on research. A student notifies you that she has been subjected to bullying through a classmate’s Facebook page.
