Using two (2) ethical frameworks, including the framework you have been assigned by your TA, and another of your own choosing, answer the following prompts: 1) What, in your informed opinion, are the main ethical and moral arguments in favor of self-driving cars (as opposed to human-controlled cars)? What are some of the main ethical dilemmas that selfdriving cars will have to confront? Do you feel that self-driving cars will be better, worse, or about the same as human drivers in making ethical decisions? 2) How might the ethical frameworks you’ve selected inform the car’s decision-making in an ethical dilemma? At the end of the day, which of the frameworks you’ve outlined is the best for protecting the health, welfare, and safety of the public? Why?

After watching When They See Us, please write a 2-3 page paper on the many areas of ETHICS that was violated throughout the case.  Why do you think it happened?  What went wrong?  Aside from the many legalities that were violated, how should it have been handled from an ethical standpoint?

Maura, a 35 year-old-woman, was walking through the grocery store and collapsed into a seizure without warning. She was brought by ambulance to Hartford Hospital and underwent a battery of tests to determine the cause of her seizure. She meets with her physician, Warren, and he gives her the bad news. She has an aggressive form of brain cancer. Maura is understandably upset but hides her feeling and takes the news in stride. Warren indicates that it is important to begin aggressive chemotherapy immediately and begins to schedule appointments with Maura. He tells her that aggressive chemotherapy followed by radiation is the best course of action and he sends her right out for blood work and additional testing. Once she returns, he presents Maura with a consent form, which she immediately signs without reading. She has many questions about her upcoming care, but does not ask them. She is not certain if she understands what comes next, but she just wants to get out of there, so she smiles and says she understands, takes her appointment calendar, and heads home. The paper needs to discuss Peter Singer’s arguments. It will be important to explain the problem that you identified and how it came to your attention and the perspective that served as a background for the issue or strategy that is your focus. After identifying the question(s) you intend to answer, you will begin to collect and analyze the data. You will need to explain your research methodology (i.e., typology, supporting data collection methods, and analysis plan). Describe the types of data you intend to collect. If applicable, identify any documents that you intend to develop as you collect the data. Predict any challenges you think you might face in collecting your data. It will be important to address the following questions: How will you analyze the data you collected? What were the challenges you think you might face in analyzing the data? Is the broad enough to allow for a range of insights and findings; and conversely Is it narrow enough to be manageable within your time frame and your daily work? Why do you want to research this specific topic/problem?
