In your opinion, based on what you have learned throughout your studies:   Often, health professionals rely more heavily on their experiences than on data gathering. Practice wisdom is often the gold standard for providers. Compiling a comprehensive list of potential stakeholders in a situation and their perspectives can seem daunting or unnecessary. Suppose a health professional said: “Why should we waste our time analyzing the various stakeholder groups? I have years of practice to draw on.” How would you respond? Now, read the assigned book chapter on stakeholder analysis  (Links to an external site.)  and then engage in a conversation on the following discussion questions, one at a time: The article discusses the role of data collection in the process of conducting a stakeholder analysis. As you read about data collection, what techniques do you feel are most valuable in gathering this information? Why? What techniques might be less useful or yield information that might be biased? Why? Sometimes, stakeholder groups are clearly at odds with each other. How can we deal with these differences? Is there a way to acknowledge these differences and come to a solution? Health Care Informatics and System Breaches ScenarioYou are the health information officer at a large hospital. You have learned a significant information technology failure or breach has occurred within your hospital. Using the Internet or the Strayer University library database, identify other health care organizations or health care providers that have recently had a significant information technology failure or breach. Write a report to your staff, notifying them of the failure or breach, how such failures or breaches have affected similar organizations, and how those organizations resolved the issue.InstructionsWrite a 4–5-page report for your staff in which you: Outline four key factors contributing to the other organizations’ HIMS failures or breaches. Compare and contrast the public health responses to HIV and influenza epidemics.  There are many ways to try to respond to the threat from a pathogen.  These include surveillance of nonhuman host populations for potentially dangerous new strains, surveillance of hospitals to track unusual occurrences of diseases, attempts to predict the evolution of novel strains, development of vaccines, development of drug therapies, campaigns to change people’s behavior, implementation of biosecurity practices for livestock, development of tests for disease and protocols for who to test.  Please describe what measures have been employed to prevent or contain HIV and influenza outbreaks, and why they have been employed.  For example, one method to prevent influenza epidemics is to implement biosecurity practices for livestock.  Wild avian flu viruses can jump into farmed poultry before jumping from poultry into humans.  Therefore, implementing basic biosafety measures (such as erecting physical barriers to prevent contact between wild birds and poultry, restricting the movement of poultry between farms, and vaccinating poultry) can greatly reduce the risk of the infection of poultry with wild influenza viruses. You may also be involved in planning new organizational policies and responses to changes in legislation.
