From the book “Suffrage, Women’s long battle for the vote” by Ellen Duboise. Starting from the first women convention in 1848 until Suffrage was passed by the 19th amendment in 1920. What were the major forces against suffrage? How did strategies developed eventually prove successful? Who were the key players?

You have the opportunity to travel to a time period between Prehistoric Egyptian civilization to the Renaissance period. What do you chose and why? As a tourist, what sights do you take in? The paper is 5-7 pages and due on Nov. 22.  You need to read the Excerpts from Jean Jacque Rousseau’s Confessions on pgs. 333-352 (The Norton Anthology of World Literature Vol.2).  This essay follows the same directions as before.  You need to make sure you have a clear thesis with essay points listed.  Each point should be used to create the topic sentence of your body paragraph.  You then should use quote from the text and analyze fully how that quote supports your topic sentence.  You pick one topic from the list below. 1.     Discuss Rousseau’s view of individualism and relate it to Confessions. 2.     Discuss the relationship between Rousseau, his brother, and father.  3.     Discuss Rousseau’s relationship with women/sexuality. 4.     Discuss what he learned from listing his sins. 5.     Rousseau wrote the first secular autobiography.  What do Rousseau’s readers learn from reading his autobiography.
