Chapter 8 of the text explains the importance of communication during a crisis. With social media, the landscape of communication has changed.  Using the Boston Marathon Bombing communication response, explain how the Boston Police Department used social media in that crisis.  Why was their strategy so successful and impactful?

Labeling Theory would posit that crime is a product of increased legislation more than inherent criminal tendencies. In criminal justice history, it might be argued that custom has remained more influential than law. For this Discussion, select one of the following laws or cases from the Progressive Era that is interesting to you: White Slave Traffic Act, the Sullivan Law, the Drug Laws, the Eugenics Movement, the Red Scare, or Weeks v. the United States. Then, consider the impact this law or case might have had on the current U.S. criminal justice system. Explain how this impact may have an influence on your role in the U.S. criminal justice system. Assignment:  How did the laws and cases of the Progressive Era affect what happens today? Provide one example. Using one of the laws or cases provided, explain any parallels of this to current laws or cases. What might be the lasting effects on today’s U.S. criminal justice system? How does having this information as a leader in criminal justice influence your role?  Offer two alternative effects of these laws or cases  A). For this assignment, you will draft the literature review section of your Final Paper by utilizing research skills to locate appropriate scholarly sources that focus on criminal justice and related disciplines. In this assignment you analyze organized crime in various countries and reduce your analysis to a PowerPoint with speaker notes.You will truly be an international criminal. The “crime” committed can be of your choosing is long as it is illegal in the country we are studying. You will find that this very deep dive into the criminal justice systems of each country we study will help you become a world criminal justice system expert.The following is an outline of the minimum points to be covered in your PowerPoint – Country/Area Topics:These are minimum guidelines – you may expand the topics covered in your PowerPoint – keep the quality at a doctoral level.1) Begin your paper with a brief analysis of the following elements:a. Project #2 – Investigative Collection of Evidence,·  No directly quoted material may be used in this project paper. ·  Resources should be summarized or paraphrased with appropriate in-text and Resource page. For the purpose of this second Project, you are still the Information Security Analyst for Provincial Worldwide.  Consider this project a continuation of the work you performed in Project #1.  In this portion of the investigation, you are ONLY collecting the physical evidence, packaging it, and documenting and reporting it. The evidence you seized in Questions two (2) and three (3) must be transported, secured, and stored after removing it from the original scene (the work area) and prior to sending it for analysis. Describe the security procedures in place as well as any environmental considerations or protections (specific to computer/digital devices) that are in place within the storage area, and why they are important. 5. Look at the Evidence Custody Document (See file attachment Evidence Custody Document.doc) and item photographs (Items-seized (pics).pptx). Read the Evidence Custody Document prepared by your co-worker, Brian Duggars in which he was attempting to document the seizure of three (3) items pictured in the accompanying photos. Did Brian adequately describe each item? What could be added to the descriptions, and for which items (based on what you see in the photos) to make them more complete and serve as an example to your co-worker of what they SHOULD look like (how they should be described)?  Or, did he do a good job and no modifications need to be made. The subculture of violence is believed to exist throughout the southern regions of the United States. You will need to focus on past and future criminological theories and policies behind the issue. Given your analysis of the issue, discuss the impact on society and what problems need to be addressed to remedy the negative ramifications. Prompt: Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed: I. Introduction A. Describe the criminal justice issue you have selected. Specifically, how is this an issue in the field of criminal justice, what is the general impact of the issue on society, and why does the problem need to be addressed? B. Describe the evolution of the selected issue throughout history, providing specific examples. In other words, how did this become an issue? What factors have caused the issue to evolve? For example, a regulation may have been created in the past to address an issue, but the regulation is now irrelevant. C. Describe the evolution of the historical perception of this issue, identifying key events and factors that influenced public perception. For example, did the public always view the topic as an issue? How has technology impacted public perception? Guidelines for Submission: Your submission should include reference to recent peer-reviewed articles, be 1 to 2 pages in length (in addition to title and reference pages) and should use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. ASSIGNMENT: Discuss the relationship between traditional policing and the rise of the crime prevention orientation of the police. How do these two forms of crime control differ?
