(2500 words, 50 percent of module mark).   General instructions:   The proposal must show extensive engagement with both topic-specific and research methods literature, and be properly referenced throughout. Anything less than 25 sources would be a source of concern. Each section marked * should be given equal weight and be about 700-750 words in length. The word limit does not include the bibliography or the 335 words of the form itself.   The full title of dissertation: Education and youth unemployment in Afghanistan   Research question: How can the post Education unemployment problems in Afghanistan can be solved?     *Research context, relevance, and novelty:   Set your topic within the wider debate/existing literature, and explain its relevance.  Identify the original contribution of your project to the body of existing knowledge. What is new?  What is different about your project to what has gone before? Make sure you refer to some of the core texts used in your main courses.   *Theoretical framework:   i.e. the body of theories and paradigms which will be underpinning your research / AND which you will be testing during your research OR using to explore new evidence. Each part of the dissertation will be finished within a month more or less and so on. Please, create a timetable to show what element will be finished on which date. First, using your course resources on finding sources, locate at least 5 scholarly sources that represent positions on your topic. This source selection should be guided by your research question. Next, read and annotate (take notes, highlight, underline, pose questions, respond) to your sources.  Your goal is to ensure you understand the source’s main points. Then, reference the book, article, or document using APA style citation and begin writing your annotations. How to Annotate: Write two paragraphs of annotations for EACH SOURCE. The information included in each paragraph should be as follows: Paragraph 1 (THEY SAY): completely and respectfully summarize the source. What argument is being made? What evidence is given in support of the argument? Be detailed and specific. What strategies does the author use to make her/his argument? Paragraph 2 (I SAY): Is the author credible?  How or why?  (Think about why the source deserves to have a voice in your paper or how it complements your research.)  Do you agree or disagree with the argument? Why? (Think about what is convincing about it, what flaws exist in it, how it influences you, etc.) 

Watch the movie Get Out. Consider the use of blue-and-white porcelain (whether it is made in Jingdezhen or not) and think about its use in the movie. Questions to consider How was the Willow Ware patterned/designed porcelain used in the movie? Your analysis should be based on the episode This Is Us Season 1 Episode 16 Recap: William Dies in Memphis and Master of None Season 1 Episode 1: Plan B and Episode 2: Parents. (2018). Writing an Introduction [Website]  The most common question for this research project is, “How many references should I have?” There is no rule.  However, you ought to think about the sections of your paper. That should guide your thinking on the amount of research needed.   Section 1 – Of course you have the Mooz text and is an excellent expert reference.  Mooz is not the only expert with an opinion on what constitutes “good decision making.” Therefore, you would probably consult one or two others so that you can formulate your definition and defend it with the research you conducted. Section 2 – Here is where you discuss the life-changing decision you made and how you went about making it.  Also, you will tell the outcome and evaluate what might have made your decision better, based on your definition in Section 1. Since this is your story, very little new research, if any, would be expected.
