For example, newspapers are dying which is obvious if table computers had been invented first. When we think of Children’s literature the words “once upon a time” immediately come to mind. Fairy tales are thought to be the very essence of stories for children. The fact is, however, that fairy tales were not originally created specifically for children. They were stories told to anyone who would listen, but mainly for adults. They were part moral tales, part inside jokes told to audiences to highlight aspects of their culture and problems that may exist. Each fairy tale is tailor made for the culture for which it is created. However, there are 5 elements that appear in every one of the hundreds of versions: a girl turns from rags to riches, evil step-mom and/or sisters, a magical helper, a shoe, and a wedding. As you go through this week’s materials ask yourself these questions and address them in your comments: Why DO we associate fairy tales with children? What elements do they have that “belong” to children? The four versions of Cinderella you will read are examples from four very different cultures. Only one was created to appeal to children only. Which version do you think WAS created originally specifically for children? Why? What surprised you when you read them? What did you not expect to read because you thought it may be inappropriate for children? This is what the chairman wrote: Good morning Mose, I am the Chair of the Reinstatement Committee and I am reviewing your petition. There are several different things going on that I see with your petition and academic record. One, you were successful in passing the majority of your classes at CR in the Spring 2020. I imagine that felt very good to have gotten so many Bs. The other thing that I see in your academic record is that there are classes that are challenging for you, where you do not pass, but your petition does not discuss this. For instance, you were not able to pass Political Science 10 in Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. I would like to know what is leading to this. I also see in your petition that you feel the reason you were academically disqualified was because you left for the semester without withdrawing from classes to join the military. However, you were on academic probation before that semester but this is not discussed in your petition either. Finally, you are asked to develop an academic plan in your petition but you simply state that you did not. I see lots of potential for you to succeed Mose but there are some significant pieces missing from your petition and academic plan. The literature review of this sample has several headings that relate to gaming (Vlachopoulos & Makri, 2017). Some sources and journals have information on whether games should be included in the school syllabus. The keywords of this topic are games-based learning, the importance of games, roles of games, and educational games. The author has also searched for a combination of all the mentioned keywords to determine the sources to review.
