The intent of this assignment is to demonstrate the prevalence of project management in today’s society. Students basically have three choices of assignment: • Research about a historical project that’s completed. Focus on what went well, what went wrong, and if you’re the project manager, what improvement suggestions do you have. • Research about a current project that’s in progress. Focus on what is happening, what is doing well, what are the criticisms, and if you are in the project manager, what would you do differently. • Research on a contemporary topic in project management. This can be an area of interest (e.g. working with difficult people on projects) or latest development (e.g. working on virtual, agile projects, across three time zones). Regardless of the topic, remember the paper must have a project management focus. So while the background or project deliverables may be of interest, most of the paper must be dedicated to the topics in project management, such as scheduling, resourcing, costing, communicating integration, etc. There should be at least three high-quality references. • The paper should contain an executive summary of no more than 100 words, and it should have a very strong introduction. The intro paragraph should clearly discuss why the topic is important, what are your intended objectives writing this, and how you are organizing the rest of the paper.
