For this assignment, you will demonstrate you can summarize and critically evaluate peer-reviewed research and clearly present that evaluative information in writing. Please include how to best assist English Language Learners in the classroom and at home.

Please prepare a paper using books and resources for this week to critique the peer-reviewed research. Then, using the principle of justice, evaluate the research you have gathered so far (7-10 studies) to determine if subject selection followed this principle.

Some aspects of this principle you will reflect on are ethics, genders and diversity that relates to English Language learners.

Does the subject selection sufficiently reflect diversity to make the results of the study generalizable to a general population?

Were individuals chosen as participants who can expect to benefit from the study?

If a diverse group was chosen as the only participants, does this reflect a logic or reasoning from within the study, or does this reflect a convenience selection?

My topic is how can schools and teachers prevent cyberbullying. I will attach my research topic and my annotated bibliography. Week 10 Discussion 1: Gender Differences in Mate Selection
Evolutionary theory is often invoked to explain gender differences in mate selection. If the motive to reproduce explains men’s attraction to young (pretty) women and women’s attraction to financially stable men—as evolutionary psychologists claim—then how does it explain the increasing number of women who do not depend on men for financial stability because they are themselves economically independent?

Or, how does one explain the increasing number of women who choose not to have children? If they do not plan to have children, then they certainly do not need a financially stable mate committed to the long-term care of offspring they do not intend to have. Or, how can evolutionary theory explain the increasing number of women who are not married yet have children?
For this Discussion, you will examine conditions that influence diffusion of responsibility from the perspective of mate selection.
To Prepare
• Review the Learning Resources for this week and examine how social psychology theories and research explain mate selection.
• Compare evolutionary theory and social psychology theories as they apply to mate selection.
By Day 3
Post whether or not the rules of attraction change for women as a function of their economic independence. Explain whether or not the rules of attraction are biological imperatives or cultural constructions, or both. Please use social psychology theory to refute claims based on evolutionary theory.

John Colapinto’s book As Nature Made Him: The Boy Who Was Raised a Girl introduces you to a story that examines the role of nature and nurture as influences on gender identity. David Reimer (Bruce Reimer) was unknowingly born a male but raised as a female. By comparison, Jennifer Boylan’s autobiographical book She’s Not There: A Life in Two Genders immerses you in the turmoil of her gender identity disorder and takes you through her transformation from male to female.

In this paper, I would like you to choose one of the books, and using some of the scientific theories of gender identity examine the relative influence of nature and nurture for David Reimer or Jennifer Boylan. Please address the following questions:
• What does being a boy/girl/man/woman mean to David Reimer/Jennifer Boylan? Is this a result of nature or nurture?
• What signaled gender to David Reimer/Jennifer Boylan (e.g., body parts, clothing, toys, friends, lovers)?
• Both David and Jennifer define and ultimately redefine their gender. How does this work both within and against complex social and cultural forces?

Joe and Mary are married for 6 years. Between them, they have five children. Both of them were previously married. Joe’s ex-wife claimed physical and mental abuse. Joe grew up with a physically abusive father and Mary lived with an over possessive mother, was insecure and suggest that ‘men cannot love.’ Mary has a six month old baby still breast feeding. Joe is not happy when Mary is feeding the baby. He becomes angry. Mary is afraid he will hurt the baby.

Joe had been physical abusive to his biological children. He was never abusive to Mary or her biological children. Friends have indicated to Mary that Joe needs help, but Mary feel that Joe has changed.

Mary’s older daughter is afraid of Joe because her half brother has told her stories of Joe’s behavior. Mary depends on Joe for financial support and feels that she cannot separate from him. Joe denies responsibility for former abuse and blames others for his behavior, and states that he loves Mary and his children. Joe and Mary have never discussed abuse.

All writing assignments, discussions, tests, examinations, projects must be created in a narrative format. Bullets points and lists are unacceptable, unless the bullet points and lists are follow by a an extensive detailed description or explanation that follows the narrative format – at least a paragraph (6 sentences).
