Today, Freudian ideas still provide a foundation for modern psychology and research though some appear in a significantly different form. Angela, is receiving help from the resource center because she also has tantrums, cannot sit still for more than 2 minutes or stay focused at home or mind the teacher. Angela is also reported to have tics which include eye blinking and other eye movements, facial grimacing, shoulder shrugging, and head or shoulder jerking. She loves to watch television and play computer games, but has trouble with math and reading skills. Angela has quite a temper and will throw things when she doesn’t get her way.” During your psychosocial history of the family, you learn that Adrienne is a recovering addict of 3 years. She admits to using amphetamines during her pregnancy with Angela, but denies so with Abel.1. What are some initial diagnostic thoughts for Abel and Angela? Discuss how you would formulate a differential diagnosis assessment for both Abel and Angela? Given the information you have in the vignette, what further information might you need and why? What methods (instruments) could you use to collect this information? What are any strengths and weaknesses of yourmethod/instruments? As Macrorie states above, research is not just an assignment requirement, but rather it should fulfill a curiosity that you want to find out more about. We learn more when we have an interest in what we are studying. For that reason, I do not choose your research topic for you. Do you have a passion for anything in particular? Consider topics related to your careers of choice, your family needs, or your hobbies. Often times students will research health problems that run in their families to find out how they can stay healthy. Many students choose to take this opportunity to research the needs, pay scale, and conditions of their careers. The only topics to stay away from are argumentative subjects because you will be required to write an argumentative paper in ENC1102. Therefore, your research paper is an informative paper.

You must cite minimum five references for your Works Cited page. References may come from the databases, or other reliable, credible, objective sources which consist of .edu, .gov, Google Scholar, and only those .org you are familiar with. Any other sources are not acceptable. Please keep in mind books are not a good choice for references as they tend to be outdated. A research paper is written with the concept of the most up-to-date information. Sources should not be over five years old. The only exception to this is when writing a paper that requires historical information.

When it comes to formatting your Works Cited page, All you have to do is put the references in alphabetical order on your Works Cited page. Remember, you alphabetize according to the author’s last name; however, if there is no author, use the title unless the title begins with “The”, “A”, or “An”, then skip to the next word in order to determine alphabetical order. It is not uncommon for a reference to not have an author.

Follow the MLA format in writing this paper. There is no title page, and the 3-5 pages are content only. The Works Cited page is not part of the required 3-5 pages. The Works Cited page follows on a separate page after you have completed your research paper. The paper is submitted as one document.

The research paper is due by the posted date and time. No late papers will be accepted. You may, however, turn your research paper in at any time prior to the deadline.

Experiment topic/ IV/DV- Due July 12th
In your submission, you need to briefly describe the topic of the experiment and the dependent and independent variables. You will also need to include the APA citations and abstracts for the sources for your experiment. The sources can be found using Google Scholar and should be relevant to the topic of your experiment.

Intro needed by July 14th
The Intro should be approximately 2-3 pages and follow APA format. We expect the Intros from groups with multiple members to be longer than from those who are working individually. Guidelines for APA format can be found here, which includes a sample paper. The proper format for the Intro should include:

Double-spaced, 12pt, Times New Roman font
The title of the paper centered at the beginning of the section
A running head and page number located at the top of the page (This should be inserted as a Header in Word)
In-text citations for any research you reference (Instructions for Citations)

When you write the Introduction section, you should answer the following questions:

– What is the problem under investigation?
– Describe the topic your experiment/paper will examine.
– What does past research say about your topic?
– PARAPHRASE the findings from the research articles you submitted previously and any additional relevant articles. DO NOT USE DIRECT QUOTES. Remember to provide an in-text citation if you reference or describe anything that is not your own work.
– What is the purpose of the experiment?
– What was the experimental task?
– Briefly summarize the experiment in 1-2 sentences.
– What were the independent and dependent variables in the experiment?
– What was your hypothesis and the rationale for it?
– Provide rationale for your hypothesis based on the research you referenced.

RESEARCH PAPER ASSIGNMENT:

You will be expected to complete a research paper and submit it for the class according to the syllabus.

The paper assignment should include the following structure and it must comply with APA written standards: Title page (1), Abstract (1), Content pages (5), Conclusion (1), and References (1). Therefore, there must be a minimum of nine (9) pages per project.
Only academic sources will be accepted, which means no Googles or Wikipedia.
