Unfortunately, the number of adolescent suicides have increased at an exponential rate. According to Kohlberg’s stages of Moral Development, adolescents begin to internalize the moral standards of valued adult role models (Mcleod, 2013). Adolescents who are battling with their sexuality are at high risk of becoming a victim of bullying. Bullying leads to withdrawal from others and lead to signs of suicide that may be missed by friend and family surrounding them. Remember that ongoing conflicts between a parent and child can fuel the fire for a teen who is feeling isolated, misunderstood, devalued, or suicidal (Lyness, 2015). I decided to speak on this topic because Suicide is the second-leading cause of death in today’s world. Someone who may be temporarily depressed can also want to commit suicide but the best thing to do is offer them help and someone who they can talk too. ?
