The rapid emergence and popularity of social media has been correlated with body-image and self-esteem issues in adolescence and young adults, however the true long-term effects of these influences has yet to be seen. Adolescents focus very intensely on their body image as it relates to their emerging sense of independence and identity. In this stage of development, Erikson’s identify v. Role Confusion, the major social influence in an adolescence’s life pivot from the parents and family towards their peers and other “influencers” outside of the home. Read the attached article concerning body image among adolescent males and females and the various factors that influence at-risk behavior. What can parents, teachers, coaches, or peers do to help stabilize body image and reduce pathological behavior during this stage?

More detailed instructions: Locate an elderly person—perhaps contact a retirement home for someone you may visit or interview a neighbor or grandparent. Ask them to share with you their life story and what they can of their personality.Write a four-page paper. Begin the paper by describing who you interviewed, how you met them, or know them (This should be no more than ½ a page and give the basic demographic information. For example, Mrs. Smith is a 50-year-old Caucasian woman who grew up in South Boston. She was a housewife and raised three children. She also worked in a factory…..etc).Based on your interview, assess their personality in terms of Erikson’s developmental theory. You must include THREE of Erikson’s stages. Psychology of Women   A cultural artifact is an everyday item that constructs gender (and/or race, sexuality, class) in interesting, surprising, or predictable ways. You might collect a greeting card, cereal box, wedding announcement, Quinceañera invitation, coloring book, children’s toy, or anything that you can discuss and analyze according to gender.   You will use one artifact (or two if you want to make a comparison) and write a paper (approximately 3-4 pages of double-spaced text). Write 500-750-word paper in which you discuss how you apply the basic ethical principles in behavioral health practice of autonomy, fidelity, beneficence, nonmaleficence, justice, and honesty as they relate to the following cases. Case 1: A client with depression who has been seeing a therapist for a year has begun to get more depressed and has recently revealed an eating disorder that has been untreated for many years. This client is seeing you for case management services. In your capacity as a case manager, how can you ensure you are meeting the basic ethical principles listed above? Apply each of the principles to different aspects of the case you would reasonably expect to encounter.  Case 2: You have discovered that a client you have come to know and like has recently abused her son. This client has many stressors in her life including an unsupportive ex-husband who is not paying child support, does not visit his son, and a job that does not pay enough. These stressors are causing financial stress and little support for the client. She is a good mother other than this incident and you would hate to see her son taken from her.
