Mythology is often used to justify both patriarchy and misogyny. In myths, women are often depicted as naive, or seductresses, or even witches. Give examples of how mythology both justifies and undermines patriarchy.

The historical perspectives on human rights in our readings relate back the Civil Rights Movement, Apartheid in South Africa, independence and caste in India, and voting rights for women. You should incorporate personal experiences (in which you are either the leader or the follower) and applicable current events in public or non-profit organizations. The adolescent stage can be described as a time where there is a loss of innocence and a pre entry into adulthood. A large part of being an adolescent is beginning that process of stepping out into the world and learning about oneself as a unique and autonomous individual. This movement out into the world is contingent upon the knowledge that this young person will have a safe and secure home to return to at the end of the day. If a traumatic loss or event has occurred in the adolescent’s life, there may be no safe base to which this individual can return. Attachment theory teaches us that a young person’s ability to attach/engage with peers, family, and other potential support systems is an important aspect of the developmental process. If the mind is really just, at bottom, a physical effect caused by the brain (which is a physical object), then it might seem that there is no reason why another physical object – a machine – might not be built that can do the same. But if Descartes is right, and the mind is a different kind of stuff, i.e. a special kind of mental stuff, and not physical or material at all, then it would follow that machines probably will not be able to be said to be ‘thinking’.But what is ‘thinking’ after all?
