The purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of proper pain management on the population most affected by chronic pain and ways to improve pain management. It is critical due to the increase of individuals living with chronic pain and the large number of death related to opioids overdose. Research indicates that many patients prefer the opioid treatment approach to manage chronic pain and that there has been less focus on the efficacy of non-opioid pain management approaches.
