Concert Review

Attend one rock or pop concert and write a short paper in response to the concert. It can be a “big name” band or performer or something in a local club or coffee house. What should this paper include?

Use the following as a guideline: State the name of the group or individual artist and the date, time and place of the concert. Keep track of the songs and the order in which they were played (and what strategy, if any, went into the design of the set order).

Comment on the level of virtuosity.  (How good was it?  Were the performers good musicians or better performers?) Describe the visual aspect of the concert. (Where was it held?  What was the room or auditorium like?) What was the atmosphere in the audience?  (Describe the mood of the crowd.)

How did the performers draw in and involve the audience? What differences were there between the music performed live verses recorded versions of the music (if applicable)? What was your subjective reaction to the pieces and the performance?  (What did you think of it?)
