Activity Instructions  For this discussion, select two scholarly articles from Unit 5 required or optional readings for evaluation. Based on your research, examine whether there are leadership behaviors, attributes, and organizational practices that are universally accepted and effective across cultures. Discuss the aspects of cross-cultural leadership (including behaviors, attributes, and organizational practices) evidenced in your selected case organization. Were there societal or organizational culture considerations that might impact the effectiveness of the leadership issue being studied?   Readings Use the Capella library to complete the following: ·         Read Dickson, Castaño, Magomaeva, and Den Hartog’s 2012 article, “Conceptualizing Leadership Across Cultures,” from Journal of World Business, volume 47, issue 4, pages 483–492. ·         Read Dorfman, Javidan, Hanges, Dastmalchian, and House’s 2012 article, “GLOBE: A Twenty-Year Journey Into the Intriguing World of Culture and Leadership,” from Journal of World Business, volume 47, issue 4, pages 504–518. ·         Read Wang, Waldman, and Zhang’s 2012 article, “Strategic Leadership Across Cultures: Current Findings and Future Research Directions,” from Journal of World Business, volume 47, issue 4, pages 571–580.   Culture is arguably one of the most important environmental factors that shape and drive organizations and leaders in the global environment. While the business-related activities of an organization travel beyond national boundaries at an accelerated speed, the pace of change for human values and social-cultural change is much slower (Lee, 2016). The issue of leading across cultures involves complex interpretations of interrelated influences that affect the outcomes and viability of global business endeavors. It is not simply limited to theoretical understanding and practical implementation of various leadership styles and their manifestations in different cultural environments. Understanding cross-cultural leadership requires a much more integrated approach through a synthesis of complementary frameworks that can provide conceptual clarity on a phenomenon of global leadership.
