Description of Course RequirementsResearch Paper: An 8-10-page paper is a requirement in this class. The goal is to help students develop the ability to communicate effectively.  A term paper in psychology is much the same as a term paper in an English class. It should be well written, well organized and nicely presented.You will identify a topic in Developmental Psychology that is of interest to you.  It is hoping that what is learned through this process will be of some personal benefit while fulfilling the course requirement.You will review the literature, gathering information on what is known about the topic, when we knew it and what is the status of our knowledge to date.  How has this information enhanced life or solved problems in psychology?  Any topic in Developmental Psychology may be presented for approval by me.  If possible, explain why this topic is important to you and/or the rest of society.  In other words, this paper should include YOUR thoughts in addition to the research.If you are writing about a theorist, discuss his/her contribution to our knowledge about Developmental Psychology.  If it’s a theory, how has it advanced society and the understanding of Developmental Psychology?If your paper is about theories or research that went in the wrong direction, discuss how this affects the individual, the family and its impact on society.  If you have any suggestions for solutions discuss them.The format for the paper is APA Style.Topic/Title12 pts font (Times New Roman)Double spacedat least 5 references (a minimum of 3 resources must come from the library databases)the first page should be the cover page (Cover page includes title, course name/number, date, instructor).We will spend one class session in the library.  This will provide exposure to research resources and tools to help you begin your research.  I will announce when this has been scheduled, please make every effort to attend this class.  You should have your topic approved by me prior to this class, and should have already started your research, so I can answer any questions you may have.
