Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research ORDER NOW FOR CUSTOMIZED AND ORIGINAL ESSAY PAPERS ON Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research Nursing Evidence Based Research – new nurses entering the field, need for specific extended learning and training. I need putting information I have together to make it my own. I want to write a research paper on new nurses entering the field – the required learning and education needed, improved or extended training to close the gap. I will include two different papers written and requirements. Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research I ONLY NEED THE NEEDS ASSESSMENT RIGHT NOW nurs3313___research_proposal_project_guidelines__comprehensive_.docx the_learning_needs_of_newly_licensed_registered_nurses.pdf NURS3313 1 NURS3313 – Guidelines for Research Proposal Draft Project Description and Purpose: The Research Proposal Draft Project provides an opportunity for students to incorporate learning into practice. Students work individually to identify and research a problem or relevant issue they have encountered in the clinical setting. Students perform a literature review, Needs Assessment, Comparison of Findings Table (COFT), Research Proposal draft and Research Proposal presentation. Research Proposal Draft Project Part 1: Selection of Research Proposal topic approved by instructor Part 2: Needs Assessment Part 3: Comparison of Findings Table (COFT) Part 4: Research Proposal Draft Part 5: Research Presentation Summary of Steps in Completing the Assignment: 1. Select a topic and submit it to course instructor for approval by end of first class session. 2. Complete a literature search for at least 5 primary peer-reviewed research articles. 3. Complete a Needs Assessment for the topic, using the articles, in order to develop a research question or objective. See course schedule for due date/time. 4. Complete a Comparison of Findings Table (COFT) for the articles. See course schedule for due date/time. 5. Write a 6 page Research Proposal draft synthesizing the findings from the research articles, Needs Assessment, and COFT. Submit both a hard copy of the paper at the beginning of class and post a copy to Moodle. See course schedule for due date/time. Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research 6. Develop a 15-20 minutes Research Proposal presentation highlighting the main points of the research proposal draft to be presented during the last class session. Needs Assessment: A needs assessment is a systematic process for determining and addressing needs, or “gaps”, between current conditions (current research and clinical practice) and desired conditions or “wants” (research proposal). 1. Identify current research and clinical practice related to the chosen topic. Describe elements of the problem as it currently exists. Be detailed enough so the problem is understood, but make sure to maintain confidentiality. Be as objective as possible – state the problem without assigning judgment to a person or organization. 2. State the desired outcome for the research proposal. 3. Specify the gap between the current and desired situations. 4. Select a solution that can close the gap. The needs assessment should be 1-2 pages long (not counting cover sheet and references), and must be formatted according to APA 6th edition standards. The needs assessment should be submitted using Moodle email. See course schedule for due date/time. NURS3313 2 Comparison of Findings Table (COFT): The COFT makes it possible to summarize and organize findings from research articles. It allows easy identification of important points in articles and determination of similarities and differences among the articles. After completing a literature search, choose at least 5 pertinent research articles, dated within the last 5 years, and complete the COFT using the provided template. Information in the table must be paraphrased, rather than quoted. Copying and pasting from the articles is not permitted. Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research Copies of the articles saved as PDF files must be submitted through Moodle email by the due date. Research Proposal Draft: This paper demonstrates synthesis (not just a summary) of findings from the literature review, Needs Assessment, and COFT to define a research question or research objective and create a research proposal draft that could help to fill in the gaps in research on the chosen topic. The paper should be formatted according to the guideline sheet attached. The paper should be at least 6 pages long, with proper spelling and grammar, and be formatted according to correct APA style. The reference list must include at least 5 peer-reviewed research articles dated within the past 5 years. Copies of any articles used in the research proposal not contained in the COFT must be submitted by the due date using email on Moodle. See course schedule for due date/time. (See more detailed instructions on next page.) Presentation Requirements: The presentation provides a forum for disseminating the findings of the project. The presentation should be professional. It should include the title of the research project, the topic, background or significance of the project, a summary of research findings, identified gaps, and a summary of proposed solutions. A Reference page, which includes all resources cited in the paper and presentation, should be included with the presentation. Presenters are expected to be knowledgeable and prepared to answer questions from viewers about the topic. Presentations are done during the Week 5 class in a 15-20 minute presentation. NURS3313 3 NURS3313 Evidence for Nursing Practice Research Proposal Draft Guidelines Sheet Description The proposal is the plan for a nursing research-based project to address a problem in the clinical setting. Although proposals vary in length, depending on the problem or issue addressed, they must be at least 6 double-spaced pages long. Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research The cover sheet, reference page, and appendices are not included in the 6 pages. Correct APA headings are required for each section. Evaluation of the proposal is based on the extent to which the depth of content reflects undergraduate-level critical thinking skills. Content evaluation criteria (These sections are good headings for the proposal.) Section A: Problem Identification Identify a problem in the clinical setting. 1) Describe the problem or issue that needs a solution. 2) Provide support that the problem or issue is an important one to solve. 3) State at least one research question or objective that is specific, realistic, and measurable. Section B: Research Support 1) 2) Provide sufficient and compelling research evidence for the proposed solution. Summarize all research reports used in a concise manner and provide acceptable internal and external validity. Essential components of each study must be described, so readers can evaluate its scientific merit. Section C: Proposed Research Methodology Describe how the research would be carried out. 1) What type of data collection would be used? 2) Would there be research participants, or would data be collected from existing records, or other sources of data? Section D: Solution Description Develop a description of the proposed solution. 1) Describe the proposed solution. 2) Describe the way(s) in which the proposed solution is consistent with current research knowledge. NURS3313 3) 4 Discuss the feasibility of implementing the proposed solution in the clinical setting. Section E: Implementation Plan Present a description of methods to be used to implement the proposed solution. 1) 2) 3) 4) Describe the overall plan for implementing the proposed solution. Identify resources needed for the proposed solution’s implementation. Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research Identify potential barriers to implementation and how those might be overcome. Describe the methods for monitoring solution implementation. Section F: Evaluation Plan Present a description of the methods that could be used to evaluate the solution. The learning needs of newly licensed registered nurses are poorly understood. The aim of this study is to identify the specific learning needs of these newly licensed nurses so that they are able to confidently provide excellent care to culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse patients. A qualitative approach was used to complete this study. Convenience sampling was used to recruit ten newly licensed registered nurses who were interviewed by phone. The interviews were transcribed. Questions targeted working nurses experiences with nursing skills, interdisciplinary interactions, and documentation. Data was analyzed and coded for the identification of themes. Gaps in the literature exist regarding the specific learning needs of newly licensed registered nurses. Understanding their learning needs can provide insight into how to better transition student nurses to registered nurses so that they are able to adequately and safely take care of a diverse patient population and work successfully as new nurses. Keywords: newly licensed registered nurses, learning needs, delegation, interdisciplinary communication, multiple patient assignments, documentation 1 INTRODUCTION The learning needs of new graduate nurses are poorly understood. Newly licensed nurses are often placed in unfamiliar settings with new roles and new responsibilities.Discussion: Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Research Although some hospital orientation programs improve nurse’s transition to practicing registered nurse, research is still needed to fully understand their specific learning needs at this crucial time in their careers. The purpose of the study was to identify the learning needs of new graduate nurses who recently graduated from Salem State University (SSU). Furthermore, the author sought to examine some of the specific learning needs of new graduate nurses reflecting on their first jobs as nurses and their perceptions of what would have helped to ease their transition from student nurse to practicing registe … Get a 10 % discount on an order above $ 100 Use the following coupon code : NURSING10
