Please see below: DISCUSSION REPLIES, HISTORY (2)   HERE IS MY POST: Hi Classmates, My name is Eddie, and I live in San Diego, California. I was born and raised in Long Island, New York. I decided to return to school so I could finish what I started thirty-nine years ago. I plan to earn my Business Degree in about three years. This time around, I want to set an example for my grandchildren on how important it is to get a college degree.  Since graduating from High School, I have served in the US Army, US Marine Corps, I have worked in pipeline, demolition, built aircraft, worked as an automotive technician for Ford and finally started two businesses in the past ten years. I am a father of three boys and a  grandfather to six girls and two boys. I enjoy reading about American history and American Presidents. My goal for this course is to learn more about the aftermath of the Civil War. My name is Kim and I live outside Philadelphia. I am a history major at Abington. I am technically a 3rd year student since I am an adult learner and had transfer credits, but I am only in my 2nd year here. I am very interested in local and family history. I especially like helping people research their own family immigration stories and helping them solve their family history mysteries by using DNA. I am minoring in biology with a focus on genetics. I have two kids (age 11 and 9), so right now their interests are my interests 🙂 I like helping my son learn to fish and my daughter loves doing arts and crafts projects. One interesting thing I suppose is that we have chickens which the kids are learning to care for. My husband built a mobile coop and we grew a pretty large garden this year trying to take advantage of the extra time at home. I am taking this course for my major and to deepen my understanding of American history. My goal is to learn more about the perspectives of different people during this time period. I transferred into Penn State from a community college here in Washington State. So technically I’m a junior. I’m majoring in history with the intent to transfer into law school after I’ve finished my degree. I work as an assistant manager at our local movie theater here, so I can firmly say that one of my biggest interests is in film. Especially the history of film. If i had to pick something interesting about myself it would be that I plan to move abroad once I’m finished with my schooling so I can experience life and history from other cultures as well as our own. I’m taking this class because I’ve always had a deep fascination with the Antebellum era. Everything from the society, to the economy, to the war itself is fun to learn about. I am an avid antique collector and enjoy restoring old cars, trucks, and fire-engines.  In 2019, I solved a problem that I will forever remember using my persuasion skills. My friend’s son Peter who is from Texas had a disagreement with his parents about schooling, and I had to intervene. The problem was that Peter had disrespected his parents by misusing money that he was given to pay for school. Peter had spent three weeks away from home just after he was given the money. He later confessed that he had spent the money on partying with friends and used all the money without paying school fees as intended. Consequently, his parents were distraught and had decided to terminate his schooling by not offering any further support even though Peter had confessed and pledged never to repeat that mistake. Peter had asked me to intervene and talk to his parents on his behalf, a duty that I successfully did. I appealed to the parents to forgive him and give him another chance since mistakes were common in young adults at his age. Furthermore, I convinced them that Peter needed guidance instead of disowning him. Peter’s father, who appeared to be adamant about changing his decision, was the first to accept my plea and support Peter’s wishes to go back to school. As per now, Peter is among the high performing students in college and proves to have a very bright future academically. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ANDREW  POST   HELLO ALL.  MY NAME IS ANDREW, AND I CURRENTLY RESIDE IN HOPKINSVILLE, KY, WITH MY WIFE AND OUR TWO DOGS.  MY CURRENT HOBBIES INCLUDE SPENDING TIME WITH MY FAMILY, WATCHING DIFFERENT SPORTING EVENTS, AND WORKING ON MY PICKUP TRUCK.  I USE RHETORIC EVERY DAY TO SOLVE PROBLEMS AS I AM THE HEAD OF MY DEPARTMENT.  A RECENT EXAMPLE OF USING RHETORIC TO SOLVE A PROBLEM WOULD BE WHEN A CONFLICT AROSE BETWEEN TWO OF MY EMPLOYEES.  THERE HAD BEEN A RIFT BETWEEN THE TWO SUPERVISORY PERSONNEL FOR SOME TIME, AND IT WAS STARTING TO SHOW TO OTHER EMPLOYEES IN THE DEPARTMENT.  I HAD TO GATHER THE TWO TOGETHER AND UTILIZE RHETORIC REVOLVING AROUND TEAMWORK TO SQUASH THE RIFT AND GET EVERYONE ON THE SAME PAGE.  THIS WAS CLEARLY A CASE OF DIFFERENT LEADERSHIP STYLES, AND THE TWO SUPERVISORS WERE TOO STUBBORN TO REALIZE THAT.  THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM REVOLVED AROUND THE TIMES THAT EACH OF THEM REPORTED WORKING, ONE SUPERVISOR REPORTED EARLIER THAN THE OTHER TO EXECUTE THE SAME TASK.  MY RHETORIC TO THE SUPERVISORS WAS SPECIFICALLY TO THEM TO GET THEM WORKING AS A COHESIVE UNIT AS THE RIFT WAS STARTING TO BE VISIBLE TO THEIR EMPLOYEES.  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX NEED A REPLY TO ANDREW’S POST XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX BREONA’S POST   HELLO! MY NAME IS BREONA AND I AM FROM A SMALL TOWN IN CAMBRIA COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA. SINCE THE BEGINNING OF COVID, I HAVE HAD TO FIND A FEW NEW HOBBIES TO KEEP ME OCCUPIED. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ONE FOR NATURE OR THE OUTDOORS, BUT I HAVE COME AROUND TO IT AND RECENTLY TAKEN UP KAYAKING WITH MY BOYFRIEND.
