Explain the nature of your assigned CLC Business Plan. What challenges do you anticipate? What information or resources do you need to be successful? Your CLC Business Plan is based on a hypothetical situation. How can you produce a realistic document that maximizes learning in a simulated context?
Details:
To successfully complete the Individual Project Plan assignment later in this course, you will need to understand what a project is, how it functions, and how to structure a project for maximum efficiency and success, and you need to develop proficiency with MS Project. Considering those goals, this assignment will allow you to interact with explanatory media and software-specific tutorials to gain foundational information about the working and structure of a project and to develop rudimentary skill in using project management software.
Directions:
Interact with the media tool “Planning: Business/Project Plan Evaluation and Development.” To fulfill this assignment, you need to complete several tasks during this interaction:
Launch the number “1” button on the “Welcome” page to watch three brief videos. View the two Course Introduction Videos: “Course Introduction” and “Capstone Project,” and the Business Plan Video: “Business Plan Elements.”
Read the sections entitled “Business Plan Overview” and “Capstone Project.” You can access these from a tab above the video

section, or move back to the Course Instructions and select the number “2” button. Note: This content is required for the subsequent task. When finished, select the “Course Instructions” tab at the bottom to return to the “Welcome” page.
Launch the number “3” button to complete the “Self-Assessment.”
Once you have completed the “Self-Assessment,” you will be directed to the “Module 1 Assignment” screen (i.e., Topic 1 Assignment), with options to download Acrobat Reader (if you don’t already have it installed), and to download the PDF. Download the PDF, which is entitled “Business Plan Elements Completion Form.”
Save the “Business Plan Elements Completion Form” to your local drive as a PDF document.
Complete the three sections in the form, re-save, and then submit the completed form to your instructor.
Once you have submitted the “Business Plan Elements Completion Form”, return to the media tool to complete Section 4 (number “4” button). This selection will link directly from the media to tutorials for MS Project (PC) and Apple Merlin (MAC).
Begin navigating the MS Project tutorial as soon as possible. You need to develop basic proficiency in this application to successfully complete the Individual Project Plan in Topic 8.

How do you envision the knowledge and skills you will acquire in this course helping you succeed in your career?
What stage of the project life cycle are you in?
You’ll need to figure out which phase you’ll be seeking funding for initially.
Phase 1: Needs analysis
Your group is aware that the town has some criminal problems/issues, but you have no idea how serious the issues are, who they affect, or what should be done about them.
Needs Assessment is the first step in the project lifecycle, and it could be the focal point of a project.
Project planning is the second phase.
Your community has previously identified the specific crime or victimization problem/needs in your area and is now looking to create specific crime prevention actions to address those concerns.
Project planning is the second phase of the project lifecycle, and it may be the focal point of a project.
Implementation is the third phase.
Your organization is aware of the community’s concerns and challenges; you’ve worked with the community and prepared a project plan with specific crime prevention actions to address those issues; and you’re ready to begin the project.
Implementation is the third step of the project lifecycle, and it may be the emphasis of a project.
Phase 1: Needs analysis
The community is the focus of this phase of the project lifecycle, which identifies the specific crime-prevention issue, problem, or need to be addressed.
It also seeks to discover the risk variables that contribute to the existence of a problem as well as the protective elements that can aid in the remedy.
(See the Fact Sheet on Risk and Protective Factors in the Applicants Guide for definitions and examples.)
The questions listed below must be answered in order to create a plan and submit a project proposal for this phase.
You will add structure to your project objectives and define the essential inputs and activities by answering the questions.
What specific crime or victimization concern would this project address in your community?
How did the problem get discovered in the first place?
(Did anyone notice it?
When?
Why?)
How do you know you need to create a project to address this problem?
What are some of the risk and protective variables associated with this problem?
Which of these risk factors do you believe you have the ability to alter?
Which of these protective factors do you think you’ll be able to rely on?
Who can you contact or where can you find information, feedback, or suggestions to help you create project ideas or activities?
For an example of a project plan that incorporates a needs assessment phase, see Appendix 1 – Sample project plan.
Phase 2 consists of project planning.
This phase of the project lifecycle builds on what was learned in the previous one.
It focuses on what your crime prevention project will actually do and how it will solve the problem/needs that have been identified in your neighborhood.
Before putting together the detailed project plan, you’ll need to answer the following questions:
Who will be the project’s target (for example, youth or women)?
What is your project’s overarching goal in terms of crime prevention?
What would you like to alter?
What are some viable solutions to the issue, need, or problem you’ve identified in your community?
Which options appear to be the most feasible and appropriate?
What are the goals of your crime prevention initiative?
What kinds of activities would help you attain your goals?
What are the various steps you’ll need to take?
What items, goods, or services do you anticipate to create or deliver as part of your project (for example, training sessions, manuals, pamphlets, curriculum, CD/DVD, video, database, website, reports, and so on)?
What will your activities’ short-term results or outcomes be?
As a result, they will help you achieve your aims and overall goal (s).
