Healthcare Informatics Technology

The goal of this term-long assignment is to allow you to dive into understanding technology and how it might help further the goals of nursing practice.  As with all assignments in this class, I want to ensure that it is helpful and addresses your specific learning needs. Please identify a technology that you believe should be implemented in your setting and conduct a prospective analysis. You may also, if appropriate, do a retrospective review of a recently implemented technology. Your analysis should be aimed at an issue that addresses some aspect of the patient and/or population health. Describe the relevant background for the project, and, if appropriate, critique the technology intervention plan and process selected for implementation. The critique should include an analysis of the following: • A description of the characteristics of the chosen clinical setting • The adequacy of the assessment of the need for the technology intervention • The participation of critical stakeholders in the identification and final selection of possible solutions • The selection of appropriate people and resources for planning and implementation • The availability of institutional support and resources • The metrics chosen to evaluate the effectiveness of the chosen technology • The evaluation plan for the overall effectiveness and appropriateness of the intervention This analysis should be structured as project analysis and include an executive summary (abstract) and a summative analysis of positives and negatives of the technology integration project in your chosen clinical setting. It should be written in basic APA format (citations, reference list, double-spaced, page numbers) but can include images, diagrams, figures and tables as needed.  The paper should not exceed 10 pages, excluding cover page, appendices, and references.
