Industrial Farming

Papers should contain no less than 3 full pages of text, 12 point font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins. Papers should demonstrate a thorough awareness of the topic as well as the ability to engage in philosophical reasoning. Outside research is not necessary, but if you use external sources you must provide complete citations. Failure to cite your sources is academic misconduct and will result in a failure of the assignment .  Assignment: The first part of The Omnivore’s Dilemma deals with the issue of industrial farming. In this paper, do one of the following: A)     If you think Pollan is correct that something has gone terribly wrong in industrial farming as it exists today, articulate as clearly and specifically as you can where you think the problem lies. Who is responsible? The farmers? The merchants? The consumers? This paper should demonstrate the comprehensive knowledge of bioethical issues that you have gained in this course.  B)     If you think Pollan is incorrect in his analysis of the state of industrial farming today, defend industrial farming practices against the charges launched by Pollan. Be as clear and specific as possible as you present arguments against those offered by Pollan. This paper should demonstrate the comprehensive knowledge of bioethical issues that you have gained in this course.
