Jovian Planets
A Jovian planet you are observing displays auroral activity. An Earth-like planet without an atmosphere in the same orbit as this Jovian planet would have a surface temperature between 0 and 100 C. Discuss the implications of these auroral observations particularly from the perspective of the planetary interior structure. Given the Jovian nature of this planet, what other observable characteristics (e.g. satellites, rings, etc.) might you see? Be sure to explain your reasoning and assumptions clearly. You will each be required to submit a 300 +/- 50 word essay on a topic discussed below. The words associated with the title of your submission, bibliographies and citations, etc., will not count towards the total word count of 300 +/- 50 words. It must be in Word or PDF format. No other format is acceptable for submission. Full reference annotation (APA) in the final submission is required.
