The movie should involve at least one of the following: civil litigation, ethics, or client interviewing. Below is a list of possible movies. You may choose a topic from this list or any other law-related movie.  Your instructor will approve your topic in week 2 and provide guidance.  Start with a movie that interests you.  Whatever topic that you choose, make sure that it is one in which are interested because you will be spending a great deal of time with it during the semester.   There will be a special “Research Café” in the classroom where you can post questions to your instructor and classmates and brainstorm ideas.  If you find yourself with writer’s or researcher’s block, visit the café for some inspiration. Here are some possible movies from which you can choose for your research paper.  You also may choose a movie that is not on this list.  If you would like more information about a movie before you make your final choice, feel free to post your question or request for more information in the Paralegal Café so that everyone can see the answer.   If you do not want everyone to see your question, please e-mail your instructor directly.  I chose the movie The RAINMAKER.Once you choose your movie, view the movie. and take notes on all the legal issues.  Select the issue that you find the most interesting, and conduct research to find out more information about this topic.  Locate at least one published case and one scholarly article that addresses this topic. Your scholarly article may be a law review article. An example might be from the movie Class Action.  This movie involves a case similar to the Ford Pinto case from the 1970s that involved a defective automobile. There are many legal issues in this movie, one of which involves an expert witness. If I chose the topic of expert witnesses, I would locate a case involving an issue about an expert witness and find a scholarly article about expert witnesses.  Another topic from this movie that I might select would be class actions.  If I selected this topic, I would locate a published case and a scholarly article involving class actions.   Once you locate your published case and scholarly article, begin writing your paper.  Your paper should contain the following sections. Cover Page Introduction Description of the movie-discuss what happened in the movie Description of all the legal issues in the movie Explanation of the one Topic that you selected and how it was treated in the movie Discuss the published case that involves this topic Discuss the scholarly article that addresses this topic Analysis-Provide your analysis of the issue, including how the topic was handled in the movie. Based upon your case and scholarly article, analyze whether the movie realistically presented this issue or whether the article and case contradicted what happened in the movie?
