Literature and the Harlem Renaissance

1.     Recognize some of the multicultural writers in American Literature. 2.     Explore historical contexts of the works as a means of understanding ideas and styles from a multicultural perspective. 3.     Enhance the ability to research ideas and present information both independently and collaboratively. This would include students expressing artistic expression and approaching the texts with an understanding of the symbiotic relationship between writing and its social, historical and cultural context. 4.     Achieve strong critical thinking skills and visual perception through analysis of a film or videotape.
