Memoir Assignment Rough draft due Sept. 14  Peer Comments due Sept. 18 Final draft due Sept. 25 Goals for the assignment:  -learning to focus on a particular experience that is significant to the writer -practice development using vivid details (showing versus telling) -engaging an academic audience through memoir  You will discuss and explore your own memoir, collect ideas about your own experiences, draft a paper on one of those experiences, participate in a peer review workshop over drafts of the paper, revise the paper, and turn it in for comments and a grade. The expectations for the final paper include the following: Purpose of the paper: To reflect upon an experience that has significance for you and is interesting for your audience; convey how that experience has affected you today. Audience: your instructor and classmates. Strategies: Focus on a particular experience and show how your experience has affected you. Develop your memoir with specific details that show your readers the experience and its effect on you as a person right now. Organize your paper as a narrative (story). Edit your paper to remove errors in spelling, grammar, and mechanics so that it is clear and readable. Format: Length guidelines: 5-6 pages.
