This assignment is designed to (1) increase your understanding of the meaning of the term “multicultural competence” as endorsed by the ACA (American Counseling Association) and (2) help you assess your current multicultural competence. For this paper, you are being asked to self-reflect upon your own level of multicultural awareness, knowledge, and skills. This assignment is meant to offer to you a baseline so that you know where some of your strengths may be as well as potential gaps of knowledge in terms of multicultural competence.   a)    Understand the Multicultural Counseling Competencies. Please review and rate yourself based on the instructions included in the document on each competency currently. Please try to be honest with yourself in doing this. Your paper will be a reflection of your experience/reactions to assessing your Multicultural Counseling Competencies. What did you learn about yourself and discuss any reactions you had? Discuss 3 specific areas of strength (and include your highest scores). Discuss 3 specific areas that you have identified as potential growth areas (and include your lowest scores) that you would like to focus on to increase your own multicultural counseling competence. Hypothesize ways you might do this. Additional Guidelines: Must Follow APA guidelines for the most part (however, personal language is OKAY in this paper); no abstract is necessary 3-4 pages maximum (excluding title and reference pages) Grading will be based quality and depth of your reflection/reactions, APA style, grammar, and organization, and demonstrated understanding of multicultural competence. Please note that although I ask you to include them, you will NOT be graded, judged, or evaluated on your scoring or areas of strength/challenge.
