My favorite singer is Ed Sheeran. Pick one of your favorite singers/ bands/ groups/ artists, and look up or decide:   what genre of music they primarily perform in (some groups toe the line of multiple different genres and perform in different genres depending on the album)  Reasons for that classification (the instruments used, lyrics, rhythm patterns) One genre that their style was influenced by and in what way Doesn’t have to be in complete sentences, just needs to be complete thoughts so I can understand what you mean. Try to use terms that you learned in the book to describe the music.   Example:  Mumford and Sons: 1. Folk rock, or alt rock 2. Use mostly acoustic instruments like violin, acoustic guitar, piano/keyboard, and vocals but still have modern “rock” instrumentation like electric guitars, and drums. The melodies are often simple with simple harmonies and tell a story. The rhythms are pretty basic often in common time and there are some beats accentuated by the percussion.    3. Folk music, some times the songs themselves are modern interpretation of folk songs, plus the use of “folk” instruments like violin, and harmonica. They also follow the folk song idea of telling a story through not just the text but also the melody.
