Musical Influences

Choose a contemporary song between the years 1990 – 2010. Analyze the song according to the following criteria: Social/political context Musical influences Musical styles and the influences that shaped the style Note: If the song you selected at the beginning of the term was recorded after 1990, then select a song that was written before 1980.  You can select a song that was mentioned in the textbook, but please don’t select a song that was featured in one of the Listening Guides In your essays, identify your song choice; include a link to either a recording of the song or a video of the song, and discuss why you chose the song. Then discuss each of the above criteria.
