You are on campus, and your phone is connected to the Internet through the campus wifi service. You are doing face-time with a friend in another state. This friend is using her AT&T 4G data plan. Both of you are enjoying a smooth video streaming connection.  Your roommate, who does not know about information technology too much, is curious about what is going on and asks you questions.  Must use resources to answer these questions. 1. “How is video information in face time transmitted on the Internet? There is no envelope or tape we can use to put pictures in.”  (answer should Describe the Use of Packets) 2. “What kind of devices/media/equipment are involved when your images travel from your phone to the phone of your friend?” (answer should Describe how Phone, Router, Cell Tower are part of the Process) Suddenly, the video quality of the face time goes down and you begin to experience delay and blurred video and audio went. Your roommate asks:  3. “What happened? What caused the problem?”  The mom of your roommate calls in so they begin to do face time. During the face time, your roommate throws you another question: (answer should Explain how Excess Network Traffic, Flow/Congestion Control, Poor Connectivity could cause the call quality to drop) I write this in the last assignment: There are two reasons for the delay, including low bandwidth and low network speed. During the process of face time, we will use lots of bandwidth. When there is not sufficient bandwidth to process the requests, it will lead to delay. Besides, the far distance between us and the router is another reason for the delay. Such poor connection causes low network speed and leads to delay. 4. “We are using the same application with the same network, but we never have cross-talk. Is it possible that my mom’s video will appear on your phone and your friends will be on mine?”  After finishing the face time, your roommate is upset and says: (answer should Describe how packets are addressed to a specific computer/device) 5. “My mom told me that my old AT&T phone I left for her does not work for her Verizon number. Can you tell me why?” (answer should Describe the distinction between CDMA/GSM Network Technologies) I write this in the last assignment: The AT&T and T-Mobile company are holding a service that operates via GSM network technology. However, Other carrier companies, such as Verizon and Sprint, are operating different types of networks, called a CDMA network. Since the network of AT&T phones and Verizon numbers are operating under distinct networks, the AT&T device cannot work for the Version number.
