MATRIX FOR YOUR RESEARCH PAPER & YOUR RESEARCH PAPER. PROBATION & PAROLE Your Probation & Parole Presentation paper on some type/form of Probation & Parole system. It can involve a case, certain law(s), One of the Bill of Rights or Amendments, Police, Attorneys, Courts, Known Criminal Cases. You will present your topic in class; the presentation should be 10 to 20 minutes +/- You may utilize any form of media you wish and if you choose you may bring in an expert speaker on your topic. NOTE: Do not use a video or a speaker for your entire time of your presentation. You may use videos to assist with your point. Instead of a PowerPoint you may use videos to explain your point. Your paper should be between 6-8 You may go more than 8 pages. You will have a cover page and a reference page that is not included in your page count. You may go over your page and presentation count and time. If you follow this matrix. You would receive at least a C. Only you can improve on your presentation and paper which will increase your grade. 1: Your knowledge of the subject. 2. What Chapters did you relate your case/topic to? a. What was the connection between your case and the chapter(s) or of the book(s) you utilized)? What chapter(s)/power points(s) page(s) was the reference from. b. Explain the connection between your case/topic/power point to the chapter(s) from the book. c. Explain/What is your point of view on the case/topic. 3. You may use power point or any other type of slide/video presentation. Use of poster board, video or a guest speaker. The video and speaker not for the entire presentation. The video may be used to make your points. 4. Are you able to answer questions at that time a. Do you need to look at your notes? b. Do you get back to that person. c. You did not get back with the answer. 5. Do you constantly read from the prompter? a. Transition between point to point – slide/slide. 6. Does your media (if applicable) coincide with your presentation. Do not use a video for your entire presentation (you tube) 7. Is your paper in an APA style. Or what your school teaches 8. Grammar, spelling and vocabulary. 9. Research paper will be in 12pt font, Cambria, Ariel or New times and doubled space. I must have your presentation/paper the day of your presentation if not sooner. I will be more than happy to review your paper once its completed. 10. When not presenting, you are responsible to ask question of the presenters, as well as your undivided attention 11. If you answer the Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. you are bound to excel in your presentation. Please contact me if you have any problems/questions. 12. Presentation will start around week 11. 13. You should have 6-8 pages of your research 14. The 6-8-page count does not include your cover page, or reference page. 15. Must have an abstract page. Your abstract page will be submitted by the fourth week. Remember it must be in your paper. 16. Your cover page will have a running head, page number, title and your name 17. Abstract page is a summary or a proposed idea and outcome of your topic 18. Do not place your entire report on your power point. The power point is for the purpose of highlighting your paper. 19. Your presentation should be 10 – 20 minutes +/-. At least 10 minutes and no more than 20 minutes 20. You must place your point of view in your paper as well as able to discuss it in your presentation. Written Answers/Reports: When Applicable; Written Reports will be graded as follows: Organization: Is your report written in a coherent, thoughtful and logical manner? Relevance: Is your topic relevant to the chapter at-hand? Content: Is the concept which you describe described accurately and appropriately? Please note all papers should be typed-written and include citations where necessary. IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who miss their presentation day will be given a zero for the assignment. (Exception you switched with someone) There will be no make-up presentations. Written papers are due the SAME DAY for which you present. One letter grade will be deducted for each class day that the paper is late. Papers may be accepted via email. All papers must be submitted in class at the time of your oral presentation.
