Personality Theories | Instant Homework Help
Part I: Personality Theories Read Chapter 10 to become familiar with the three major theories of personality development that have been studied and written about within the field of psychology. Which of these theories of personality development makes the most sense to you, and why? In particular, are you more drawn to the Psychodynamic, Humanistic, or Cognitive-Behavioral school of thought? Which of the featured psychologists in your text do you feel makes the most compelling argument for how personality is formed, and whether or not personality can be changed? Give specific examples from your own experience to back up your argument. For example, you may wish to share something about how you believe your own personality was formed, or describe the personality development of someone you know. Part II: Personality Assessment Another school of thought in the study of human personality is Trait Theory, in which personality assessments are used to describe or classify someones personality. For Part II of this post question, go to the website www.123test.com and choose one of the two personality assessments described below, write a little bit about the history and usage of the instrument as well as any information you find about its validity and reliability, and take the assessment to find out how it classifies your personality. Tell us whether or not you agree with what the assessment says about you, and why. Assessment #1: Big Five Personality Test (this one is called Personality test on the website) This common type of assessment classifies a persons personality according to the Big Five personality traits. The assessment assigns high or low ratings to each of the five traits that describe the most important aspects of a persons personality. If you take this assessment, what are your ratings on the five traits? Assessment #2: Jung Typology Test (this one is called Jung Personality test on the website) This example of an objective personality assessment commonly used in practice is a Jung Typology test (like the Myers-Briggs), which characterizes people into one of 16 personality types as defined by Carl Jung in 1921. If you take this test, which personality type do you fit into? There are other assessments on the website too if you are interested, but for this assignment you need to choose either the Big Five Personality test or the Jung Typology Personality test. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING TO DO THIS ASSIGNMENT. Just take the free version of whichever assessment you decide to take.
