Reactions to Music in Movie Scenes

One of the developments in film music during the late 1960s and 1970s was the use of soundtracks built from popular songs.  Rather than assign a single movie for you to watch and write about I have posted links to scenes from a few movies for you to watch and react to.  For each scene, consider these questions: 1.  Does the song seem to fit the action or narrative of the scene? 2.  If it does, how does it contribute to understanding the scene or the characters?  If not, what seems incongruent between the music and the scene? How you organize your paper is up to you, but make sure you address both questions for each scene.  Your grade will be based on the following: 20—Does the student adequately address each question for each example? 12–Does the student include some type of summary of his or her thoughts on these examples? 3–Is the paper acceptable for college-level work?
