As you saw in the unit overview, your main task for this unit will be to construct a genre analysis of a piece of your chosing. Write your answer to the following questions. Answers should be thoughtful and probably more than one sentence.  First, explain rhetorical situation and genre in your own words and talk about how the two relate.  Next, review the unit assignment, genre analysis, and explain in your own words what you will be doing for this assignment.  Next, begin thinking about what genre you will analyze for your unit 1 essay. What are some genres that you feel you know well? How did you learn them? What are their common rhetorical features? Finally, how do you feel about the course thus far? Name a few things that you’ve learned from our readings and activities. What are your concerns moving forward in the course? How can Prof. Garner relieve those concerns? GRADING Grading is based on full completion of the requirements listed above. 5 points each for questions 1-3.
