Sociology of Film
Choose a film to watch and after reviewing your notes/book. Textbook: Rohall, David E. (2014). Social Psychology Sociological Perspective, 3rd edition. ISBN-10: 0-205-23500-X Identify at least 5 social psychological principles (concepts, theories, etc.) that appear to be operating in the events or individuals depicted in the film. For each principle that you identify: (a) briefly describe the relevant scene (b) describe in detail the social-psychological principles you believe is relevant, bringing in concepts/ideas/vocabulary from the class/text Your written analysis should be detailed and well-written (at least 6 pages) and must be typed, double spaced (12 pt. font). Be sure to include an introduction to orient the reader, as well as a conclusion to tie your thoughts together. You will be graded on the following: (1) Did you follow the directions listed above? (2) Did you demonstrate critical thought and an understanding of social psychology from a sociological perspective? (3) Did you present your ideas in a clear manner? (4) Did you bring in concepts/terminology learned in class? (5) Is the paper well written and coherent (minimal grammatical and spelling errors)? (6) Did you cite your sources? This includes a works cited or reference page at the end of your paper. You do not have to cite the movie, but you must cite the textbook and all other sources you incorporate.
