Sincerely due to my culture and Christian background, I see people with mental illness as the same as my brothers, sisters, children and parents. My personal experience with mental health patients in the acute ward where I work as an healthcare assistant with multidisciplinary teams, like the psychiatrists, occupational therapists, social workers, families, general practitioners and many others have enlightened me with a broad spectrum of knowledge, skills and important values as to how to deal with mental patient in general and to bring some positive change into their life style. Working as an HCA, my service users have always been my top priority and I have consistently provided all patients with the best quality of care which is evidence based and in line with best practice principles. I maintain follow the national standard guide as well as the policies and procedures at work as my guidelines, ensuring that the service users always feel welcome and safe especially during admission and they are treated with dignity and respect by all staff.
