Someone in Need

Describe, in detail, one time in which you helped another individual in need. For the situation in which you helped an individual in need, specifically explain how you “made it through” the five steps of helping. In your explanation answer the following questions: Why/how did you notice the individual in need?   Why did you interpret the situation as an emergency (why didn’t you experience pluralistic ignorance or fear of embarrassment)? Why did you assume responsibility for helping (why didn’t you experience diffusion of responsibility and what were the costs of helping)? Why did you believe that you were competent to give help? Why did you actually give help? Remember: In the final stage of helping we once again consider the costs of helping. Therefore, in answering this final question please consider and describe any costs to yourself involved with the helping behavior. Refer to course material as you describe the behavior.  Your essay should be 1-2 pages (double-spaced), with any references cited in APA style, although references are not required for this assignment.
