How does the mother (Mary or Ingrid) influence the actions, behaviors, beliefs, personalities, boundaries, and outcomes of her daughter’s life? Be sure to include text events, character action, symbolism, dialogue, etc. in order to substantiate your thesis. Use the information we have reviewed in class (film symbols, character quotation interpretations, NPD signs chart, the article, poem (“MOTHER”), and your answers to the quiz questions to help you). What signs of NPD does she exhibit? Discuss a scene that really reveals her NPD. Discuss how she behaves, her thought process, and her motivations. You may quote the article (“Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers”) and/or the poem (“MOTHER”) so long as you use quotation marks. The terms audience and viewer should be used as this is a film. 3) Discuss why and how the daughter recognizes her mother’s NPD. What signs does she exhibit? What are the consequences? How does she face the consequences? You may quote the article (“Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers”) and/or the poem (“MOTHER”) so long as you use quotation marks. The terms audience and viewer should be used as this is a film. 4) Is there a resolution in the film? Does the daughter confront the mother? Does the mother pay a steep price for her NPD? If so, how?
